Hollyhock Hill has been a tradition in "family-style" dining since 1928, remaining as one of the few such restaurants of its type in the United States and the 2nd oldest restaurants in Indiana. While the unique family-style service offered at Hollyhock Hill is reminiscent of a time gone by - the detailed attention to customer satisfaction, menu item updates and consistent quality of the cuisine all lend themselves to the memorable dining experience you will take away from Hollyhock Hill. Consistently ranked among the top restaurants in the Midwest, Hollyhock Hill is famed for its superior "country-style" cuisine, high standards of service and unique ambiance - consistently creating highly remembered dining experiences. Perfect for large groups & for celebrating special occasions! While famous for Fried Chicken, recent additions to the menu include additional children's menu items, vegan and gluten-free options and the don't miss homemade Apple Pie!

The food was great, service was just ok. The waiter was not very attentive, we had a dirty wine glass, water wasn't refilled, and he forgot part of the order.

The chicken is life changing. The mashed potatoes will have you crying.

Holly Hock Hill wasn't what it used to be. Atmosphere was lower class. Potatoes weren't as good as they used to be. Need more cream - less water in them. Service was good. The price was about $9 more than the last time we were there and the experience just didn't meet the increase in price. We won't go there again.

Unequivocally it was the worst restaurant experience we have ever experienced. We have been a customer of Hollyhock for over 30 years. Never, ever has it been as bad as it was last night. Overpriced, the chicken was undercooked, the portions were half the size of what we expected, the service (if you can call it that) was miserable - not only did the server not clear the table, but did not refill water, Coke, iced tea glasses even once, the biscuits were stale and overcooked. It was terrible from the minute we sat down. It even took 10 minutes to get Sweet and Low for iced team, the ice had melted before the server came back. Maybe this could happen in a full restaurant - there were about 3 table with customers. Bottom line. Shameful and if I was the owner, I'd close up the restaurant. They have taken a great restaurant and turned it into a joke. Connie and Joe Newman

We only visit once a year around Valentine’s Day as a standing family tradition. Tonight we enjoyed our server Tracey (sp?). He was very attentive, and the food was delicious as always. One of our favorite sides is the cold fresh cottage cheese (more preferred over the beets) so we weren’t very excited to learn that it was no longer included in the meal. A modest $6 additional, but still, for the price of this meal, all the same traditional items should still be included. It you were going to make something optional, it should have been the beets. We still love it and we’ll be back. Now that Iron Skillet has closed, Hollyhock Hill has less competition (although they weren’t much in the first place), so celebrate and bring back the cottage cheese, AND the silver pourers for the ice cream syrups. Those made dessert feel fancier than the plastic bottles now do.

Poor service, a large dining room (no ambiance) and bland tasting food set the stage for a very disappointing dinner at Hollyhock Hill. That said, we were charged $32 per person for the chicken dinner with all the fixings. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

We were to be seated by the kitchen door and our realtor be moved was honored. Server was very busy with two rooms but door order was correct and served hot. Food was delicious and plentiful. The noise level of the restaurant was loud with several large groups present.

The prices have really gone up. It’s just not a value for what you get. They use to put white tablecloths down, but no longer do that. The restaurant has seen better days and the bathrooms need help. For the price you should receive better!

Hi Sharon, Thank you for providing your feedback. As food prices have continued to rise, we have had to follow the trend. We had to follow the market in order to keep our portion sizes large, and food refillable. We are continuing to work on the building as it nears almost 100 years old. We greatly appreciate your patronage, and we hope you give us another chance. I have sent an email along with this response. If possible, please provide any additional details regarding your visit. Thank you, Abby Harper
