A sushi bar and Japanese bistro. Inspired by the sushi bars in Tokyo. Himitsu introduces Japanese culture, design, and hospitality to San Diego.

Our 8 person sushi bar and 20 person patio is located in a discrete corner of La Jolla, a setting well suited to our name, which translate to "Secret" in Japanese.

Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri, along with Japanese style tapas using the high quality products and ingredients.

One of the best sushis in San Diego and SoCal. Very high quality fish, authentic Japanese style, extremely polite servers. All this for prices that are lower than all the hodgepodge sushis in the neighborhood. Hats off to whoever own and runs this place with passion and love.

Delicious fresh sushi and amazing service! Only downside was that the sushi slices were very thing for the price although the quality was very nice and fresh.

Super dope restaurant! Our serve (Jake maybe) was awesome and recommended some fabulous Sushi pieces, and the Steak Sando and Black Cod were to die for. Will be back many times!

Absolutely wonderful experience. We took our 2 1/2 year-old daughter who also loved the food as well and everybody made her feel welcome! casual feel but absolutely exceptional food and service. We highly recommend.

Mitsu’s food is always good, but service & hospitality continue to be off & strange. Supposedly resys full 7-9pm, but 1/2 tables were empty upon arrival @ 8pm & clearly no need to rush dining & high-paying valued & regular customers…”we need the table back by 9pm.” Doesn’t make sense. And yes, auto 20% tip added now, I guess many customers left $0. or 10% or 15% ? Strange.

Excellent food and service. sushi was so good and fresh. Pricy but high quality sushi is not cheap. You get what you pay for here. A bit noisy. Can’t wait to go back.
