Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast
Multiple dates available
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

The best Sunday lunch in town. The Brits do beef better. It’s just the truth. And don’t dare leave without trying a sticky toffee pudding.

The dining experience was overall a 10/10! The best meal I’ve ever had and the service was impeccable. I made reservations for my husband’s birthday and we were sat immediately upon arrival. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She explained the serving sizes on the board to us and gave suggestions for our sides. We had the pork belly to start which was delicious. I ordered the lamb which was incredible, and without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. My husband ordered a steak which was cooked perfectly. We ordered the creamed spinach as a side and received complimentary mac and cheese, both were great. Finally, we ended the night with sticky toffee pudding and pavlova. It was a little loud, but it didn’t take away from the experience. I blame it on the acoustics of the high ceilings. I would recommend the Hawksmoor to anyone and everyone looking for a perfect dining experience in New York!

I expected the place to be quieter, but it was actually so loud that I could barely hear my friend while we were eating. Also, the space was quite small and there wasn’t much room to put our stuff. That said, the staff were really nice and friendly.

Hawksmoor is an outstanding restaurant in a wonderful old building. The steak (ribeye) that I had was cooked to be perfection! Our server was delightful and full of suggestions to enhance our experience. The noise level was loud, but the large room is cavernous, so maybe there is little to be done about it. My friend and I were there to celebrate his birthday. Our server gave us a complimentary dessert on the house along with the desserts we ordered. I thought that was a wonderful surprise and gesture on behalf of Hawksmoor! Aside from the high noise level I would highly recommend this restaurant!!

Food was okay, very overpriced for what you get portion, quality and taste wise. Service was not that great. Place is loud. Would not recommend. The two positives were the scallops and the aesthetics of the place.

This was one of my worst Hawksmoore experiences, we waited over 50mins for our starters to come out, the manager apologised and removed these from the bill which was appreciated. I ordered the 24oz Chateau medium rare but unfortunately this was over cooked and quite burnt around the edges which completely over powered the flavour of the steak. My wife’s ordered a fillet steak that was so over cooked she had to leave half of it as it was inedible. I would usually have discussed these issues with the staff however due to the starters taking so long we were now late for the theatre, we missed the first 10mins of the show which is very frustrating. I am usually the biggest advocate of Hawksmoore and have visited several of their restaurants on numerous occasions, however recently I’m sorry to say that I’m starting to feel that the quality is just not worth the cost, not just in regards to this restaurant but others in the uk.
