Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Booked the Sunday roast. Incredible presentation and a pitch perfect English Sunday roast. The beef was prepared and presented perfectly for a great Sunday roast is so much more than that and all the elements came together in this presentation to make one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. the roast potatoes, Yorkshire, pudding and vegetable accompaniments were all perfect and the roasted garlic and nice addition to the plate. The gravy was rich and complex we paired our lunch with a beautiful Cabernet from Italy and enjoyed sticky, toffee pudding and raspberry Pavlova for desert. Just incredible.

Fantastic birthday dinner at this steakhouse I've wanted to try for some time. I would've expected to be our 34oz steak for two to be slightly bigger, but overall, for a steakhouse the menu strikes a good balance between the old stand-bys and offering a thoughtful mix of twists on classics and good variety.

Waste of a night. steak cooked poorly, portions looked like they were missing meat. no 36oz options, no burgers, no wine options, appetizers out. a bad experience trying to go somewhere other than peter lugers or benjamin's. don't do it .

So I have been dying to try Hawksmoor since it opened, unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The first 2 bottles of wine we picked they were out of, but they did recommend a decent alternative. Also it took forever for the food to come out, but they did comp us for our drinks and the appetizers, and also comped us for additional sides which we didn't need or want. But what was most confusing is you couldn't tell who worked there as everyone dressed as they wanted to personally, so you couldn't tell who was a customer or service person...

The off menu burger which is now being changed to a lunch item is AMAZING! We also had the tuna tartar and beef tartar and both were just as delicious. Great old fashioned too.
