Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

  • Sunday Roast

    Multiple dates available
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Waste of a night. steak cooked poorly, portions looked like they were missing meat. no 36oz options, no burgers, no wine options, appetizers out. a bad experience trying to go somewhere other than peter lugers or benjamin's. don't do it .

Great food, but the people were not very friendly or accommodating. Seemed like no one wanted to be there.

Last time we came the strip steak was amazing. This time it was just OK. All three of us agreed. Also, the staff has always been bohemian in their dress, but they used to all have flannel shirts so it had a point of view. Service at the bar seemed casual to the point of dismissive. Overall, seemed like a less than premium experience.

I was beyond impressed by everything I ate! The scallop appetizer may be one of my favorite bites ever in NYC, and the pork belly and fried shrimp were unreal as well. While it was definitely pricey, most things were worth the price, however I definitely think the rib chop was overpriced, and was personally a bit too rare for me (we ordered medium rare). Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but not $168 worth of delicious. The mashed potatoes with gravy were perfect and the beef fat fries were average… could have used slightly bigger portion on both. The desserts were outstanding- the peanut butter Louis was like nothing I’ve had before in a restaurant and every bite was perfect. The sticky toffee pudding was also next level - I typically don’t like things that are too sweet, but it just worked with this dish and the sauce it came in was addicting. Overall, highly recommend but be prepared to spend a lot of money. The only thing I would change is, I wish they would let you order the double cheeseburger in the dining room room. It is only available at the bar… So I guess I’ll have to go back!

Wow, what an experience! This was my first time at this steakhouse, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. The food was pure perfection—the bone marrow sauce was simply unforgettable. The steaks were cooked to perfection and packed with incredible flavor. The drinks were just as impressive. The whole place had a charming 1920s vibe, and I’m completely in love with it!

Sunday roast was very good, coming from a British person. Sticky toffee pudding also very delicious and great drinks! Staff and servers very friendly and welcoming. Temperature in main dining area was a little chilly and had to a wear a jacket. Would certainly visit again!
