Gusto Ristorante is a Northern Italian restaurant with a touch of the South at the Sea Turtle Marketplace in Hilton Head Island.
The executive chef and owner Giancarlo Balestra with his wife Nancy bring the vibrant flavors of his native hometown of Rome, Italy to Hilton Head. The couple who met in Rome 28 years ago discovered their shared passion for food and adventure and have since owned and operated restaurants in Aspen, Co, Winter Park, Fla and Saratoga Springs, NY. They fell in love with Hilton Head and decided to jump into this new exciting culinary adventure, hence the name Gusto, which means flavor and taste in Italian but also means a zest and enthusiasm for a delicious taste of life. The restaurant has a full bar, extensive wine list.

We have dined here numerous times on visits to HHI…Christmas Eve was quite good…food, timeliness of service, etc…New Years Eve was understaffed and while the portions were generous and food tasty service attention was not up to par…Four stars to three for this night, ,

Great service, attentive staff. Food was huge portions. Lobster bisque was creamy and very good. Lasagna was very good. Friends had chicken parmesan which they enjoyed. Lemon cake was a delightful dessert.

We go to Gusto at least once each time we stay in Hilton Head…the menu is extensive, the host and wait staff engaging and polite, and the food always excellent (and portions sized to share)….Our Christmas dinner was held among other joyous diners (but a tad rushed I am sure because of the need to turn tables over…but otherwise delightful)

Gusto never disappoints! I would absolutely recommend this spot for Christmas Eve service again and again. Abby was our server and she was incredibly personable and attentive. Each course was timed well and we never went long without a check in for drinks or anything we might need. The food was all fresh and flavorful and the portions were enough to take leftovers if that’s your thing! We are repeat customers and we will definitely be back.

My wife and I had dinner on Christmas Eve . We both had the specials, Osso bucco and seafood risotto. The ossobuco was excellent, maybe the best I ever had. Only complaint I had is our table was wedged in a normal walking path and both staff and customers kept bumping us and almost spilled our drinks. The staff was nice and apologized and said they’d comp our desert, but didn’t.

Ate here for Christmas Eve and it was outstanding. Starting from the caprese appetizer, the veal osso buco and gnocchi osso buco and desserts were fabulous. Service was great, even though they were very busy. Only small downside was the noise level was a tad high, but not much they can do about that as busy as they were.

Had a table that was shoe horned between two others. Servers were constantly going past table on both sides. Felt like an airport runway.
