                                                                                Service was excellent, unfortunately everything else about our experience was underwhelming at best. We were seated upstairs in a back corner, in what felt like a dated banquet hall, at a large round table that was too big for our party of 5. It made it difficult to talk to one another and to reach/pass food that was placed in the middle. As for the food, it ranged from just okay to inedible. The wedge salad consisted of wilted, underdressed iceberg lettuce topped with a few bacon bits and overripe cherry tomatoes. The Caesar salad was, fine. Entrees were…fine. Steaks were cooked properly, but under-seasoned and just average quality (particularly our Porterhouse). The sides were the least impressive of all. Lobster mac and cheese was spoiled, hash browns were burned on the outside while raw in the middle, spinach was soupy and flavorless. We had been looking forward to having dinner at Grill 23 since our last visit to Boston and had high hopes given the restaurant’s reputation and reviews, so this was such a letdown. It feels like we would have gotten a better meal at any average, chain steakhouse.

                                                                                Favorite place. Took my brother in law and his wife and finally tried the American Kobe Cap along with many others. We all took a bite together, and it was like an out of body experience.

                                                                                We really enjoyed having Tanner as our server! The interior has an old school Boston feel. All the food was excellent. We ordered the filet mignon, NY rib eye, creamed spinach and Mac & cheese. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
