This was our first visit to Grana. We had heard good things about it so we decided to give it a try.
We ordered two glasses of the Montepulciano wine, which was excellent, although very pricey at $16/glass. We also ordered the local beef meatball appetizer, which was very tasty. We asked if bread came with dinner, and were told no. I don't think I've ever been to an Italian restaurant that doesn't serve bread with dinner. We wanted bread so we ordered the garlic bread. When it came out, it looked like a cheese pizza. It was actually pretty tasty, but for $16 I would expect unlimited bread.
Next was the entrees. My wife ordered the spicy Rigatoni. She said it was just ok. I had the Cavatelli bolognese, which also was just ok. Actually the bolognese sauce at Ipps is better. My mom ordered the baked ziti with meatballs. She said it was dry so we asked for a side of sauce. The waitress brought out a tiny cup with what looked like a teaspoon of sauce in it, and we were charged $2 for what should have already been on the ziti. My wife asked for some grated cheese, since we were not offered any, as every other Italian restaurant does. Again, they brought a tiny cup with a pinch of grated cheese in it. Thankfully we were not charged for that. I'm not sure why they are so stingy with the sauce and cheese. Isn't that the staples of Italian food?
My mom asked for artificial sweetener and we were told they don't have any. They only had raw sugar.
Overall it was an average dinner. For $185 for 3 people, I would expect a lot more. Not sure we will go back, as there are better options available.
Grana - RoswellResponded 4 days agoScott,
Thank you so much for your review! We are thrilled you enjoyed the Montepulciano & Local Beef Meatballs. Our bread service is a little different here at Grana. We do have crostini's and our Neaopaltian Style Garlic Bread as options for bread service. Also since we lean on southern Italian dishes, they don't get delivered with an extreme amount of sauce as they are meant to be balanced with the ingredients in the dish. I did how place an order for a sugar substate this week for our guest to have an extra option for beverages per your request. Thank you again for the feedback.
Cheers,
