We had a wonderful meal!!! The waiter suggested an excellent entree, the rib cap, it was excellent! I added the green pepper corn sauce and it was a great finishing touch! My wife had the filet minon and she loved it too!!! Great atmosphere, wonderful wait staff and great cocktails!!! Highly recommended!!!

I was very sad. They did not have the regular fondue and that is the reason I go to the restaurant. I have not been since Covid and will probably not be back. That was the highlight of our trip to Nevada City

The food was very good. The waiter not so much. Had to plead with him for separate checks. We knew other people in the restaurant who recd separate checks. Bus trip. Anyway he did accommodate our request.

I want to start by saying Friar Tucks holds a special place in my heart as I literally got engaged there 7 years ago. However, the last 2 times we have been (we go at least once a year usually more) have been have been very disappointing. In November I ordered the cioppino and it definitely did not taste fresh. I only ate a couple bites because it was unpalatable but I didn’t complain or send it back - I assumed it was just a one off day. Last night we went and the “Victorian Xmas menu” they had posted about on IG was just a limited selection of their regular menu. The waitress (won’t name names) recommended the prime rib and salmon, so that’s what we ordered. Oh, and they don’t give you bread anymore - it comes stale with frozen butter. My salmon came with “frizze” but was actually raw spinach and radicchio .. and a “hash brown “?? We literally had to ask our waitress what this burnt unidentifiable puck object on my plate was. Anyways, it was bad. Took 2 bites. My husbands prime rib was 50% fat and his Yorkshire pudding was hard and dense not light and fluffy. Also our Caesar was way over dressed. I was so embarrassed to voice our dissatisfaction with the food (that’s putting it nicely). We are not picky eaters, but this is the second time it’s been atrocious. Honestly out of respect I will not call out our waitress by name, but she was rude also. She did however take our untouched entrees and bread off the bill so thanks for that. Sorry if this seems harsh but I really hope that the business owner sees this because we were very loyal customers and will not be back. We were super excited and let down.

We went to Friar Tux for the first time with my 2 young daughters during the Christmas season. My mother and I ordered a prime rib dinner to split since we had fondue as an app. The prime rib came completely cold (plate and sides also) to the point even the fat was white again. We asked the server to mitigate, which they were happy to do. The prime rib came back very obviously put under the broiler and GROSS. Neither of us ate it. We will not be back which is disappointing.

We have eaten here before and it was perfect and quiet. This time Victorian Christmas was in full swing. More than 2k people. Somehow with all the chaos and demand they still kept our dinner reservation on time. The food came with in very acceptable timing with everyone including the General Manager working to make it all happen. Crazy busy but they pulled it off. You can’t go wrong and the drinks and food were excellent!

This was our second time eating here, both times during the Victorian Christmas Festival. To say it was busy would be an understatement! They were well organized, and our server, Lila, was attentive and friendly. In our group of four, everyone enjoyed their meal. We started with some salads and onion bread, which is very yummy and dense. I had the crispy salmon with the croquettes. The salmon was indeed crispy, yet tender and cooked to a perfect doneness. Others in our group had the chicken parmesan and the beef wellington, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Portion sizes seemed reasonable, and no one in our group left hungry! We were a bit disappointed that the full menu was not available this year, but that's understandable given it's particularly busy during the festival. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and were turned away, told to return at the exact time instead. That seemed pretty unnecessary since for a 5:30 reservation the table would have been available already (and we were planning to start with cocktails). Overall, though, we enjoyed our meal and plan to return the next time we're in town.
