Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Farmer's Table in La Mesa offers a cozy ambiance with "fresh food" and "friendly service." While some dishes, like the pecan-crusted chicken and "ricotta spinach pizza," receive high praise, there are occasional service hiccups and inconsistent food quality. The restaurant is a local favorite for brunch, thanks to its "diverse selection" and inviting atmosphere.

What a Lovely Restaurant! The Service was Warm & Friendly. Food was Good but Cubing Sausage for Pasta and Pizza is just not right. Taking the Time to Crumble it instead of Cubing it like Spam would be appreciated. We will be back soon as the Food is Fresh, Ambiance is Cozy and People are Cool. Even the Cook’s Singing in the Kitchen was Special! Kevin K.

Food is subpar. Not a lot of flavor and the waiter was more attentive to a table of pretty ladies than any of the ours. We had to consistently call him over. Thankfully, the bus person was available. Won’t be going back!

The kitchen did an amazing job with the food. It was just as ordered with the exception of the candied bacon. They informed us that they had run out and offered regular bacon as a substitute. The service was not that great. We visited on a holiday and it appears that they were understaffed. At one point I observed two servers for a full restaurant which resulted in no refills without requesting a passerby and we had to hunt down the server to settle our bill. All this being said, I would return because this was probably a managerial oversight or someone called in and left them short handed for the holiday crowd.

We went there for the 13th time and i was disappointed but my wifes dish was not. My wife got the special pasta with the lobster. I unfortunately got the mahi mahi was over cooked and the only thing that saved it was the sauce and there was crab shell in the food as well. Pointed everything out to server for feedback but only acknowledged crabshell but not overcooked fish. I will probably never order fish from Here again at $35.00.

I took my Girlfriend to Farmers Table for Valentines Day. Everything was especially great. Server was, "VIRGINIA B. B." and she was just OUTSTANDING!!!! I have a dairy allergy and she went out of her way to ensure none was used on my food. She was attentive, sweet, polite and like I said, "OUSTANDING!!!!" We love this place. YOU WILL TOO!!! So please try it and ask for Virginia B. B.

My husband and I went to Farmer’s Table for a Valentine’s Day dinner. It was to celebrate the day we met 39 years ago. The table they gave us was in a crowded , high traffic area. We each ordered the 5 course Valentine dinner. Two minutes after a course was brought out, the waitress wanted to bring the next course. We felt rushed. My husband slid his martini closer to him to drink, but the table was so bumpy on the surface, the drink spilled. He lost half his drink. The waitress brought a new napkin but didn’t offer a replacement drink. The drink was very expensive. He said he would take another martini. This one came out after a long wait and was only partially filled. He felt that the bartender gave him a short pour. When he finally received his surf and turf , the lobster had no edible meat in the shell. There was a claw but I had to request a cracking tool. When we complained about no lobster meat, just a shell, the waitress did bring out another lobster. For the amount of money we spent on this dinner, we were very disappointed.

We have eaten at Farmer’s Table many times, but not recently. On this visit, we were surprised to find the restaurant quiet in the middle of a Saturday night dinner seating (7:30 pm). The waiter was not engaging, but our order was served promptly and accurately. The food, however, was shockingly oversalted, and this was the case for several pasta dishes - not just one. We let the server know (because it was inedible), and he kindly removed it from our bill. Additionally, I was thrilled to see the addition to the menu of pasta prepared in a cheese wheel. Unfortunately, however, it appeared that the chef preparing the dish tableside was doing so for the very first time. We will be back - we like to support neighborhood establishments - but we hope for a better experience next time.

The top 2 dishes are worth the price. The restaurant could have been cleaner. Reservation details were not honored. 18% gratuity automatically added to check. Pizza was tasty but undercooked. Short Rib entree’s included pasta was under seasoned and not good at all. Sea bass was over cooked and mashed potatoes were dry.
