Chef Sebby Holmes launched Farang back in 2016 after trading at street food markets throughout London. A year later he took up temporary residency in Farang's current home in Highbury & Islington. After excellent reviews, he took on the space permanently after his step-father retired and since, has gone from strength to strength.
Farang was recently inducted into the National Restaurant Awards top 100 and awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, which we have kept four years running. We also received the Thai select award from the UK Thai Embassy which certifies authenticity and the freshness of our ingredients.
We’re a young team of enthusiastic individuals, who over the last few years have bought our passion and skills to the table.
Parties of six and larger, kindly contact the restaurant directly for reservations. These larger groups will be offered the shared feasting menu only and a deposit of £10 per head needs to be taken to confirm the booking, which will be deducted from your bill.

This was my first trip to Farang in a while and I was impressed by the fresh and authentic Thai flavours .. we chose the six-course tasting menu so that we could enjoy a variety of snacks and mains. The highlights include the fried sea bass and the jungle curry was divine. My friend has a nut allergy and our server took her needs very carefully to ensure that she was catered for. Well- priced wine list to accompany the flavours. The restaurant is buzzy and compact and we had the most beautiful service from Cara who although relatively new felt like an old friend! Such a great local restaurant, we were both impressed and will return.

Amazing food! Just a bit rushed to get everything done in the time - at one point we had three courses on the table at the same time… they just keep bringing it whether you’re ready or not. But it is exceptionally tasty.

We were celebrating our engagement. Food was incredible. We had the sharing menu and added crackers with coconut chilli jam as a starter. Crackers and the coconut chilli jam was amazing! The sauce was so flavourful, such a shame can’t buy it in a jar. Fried chicken was our favourite dish of the day - crispy, spicy, sweet - hit all the notes. We weren’t a fan of the hot and sour soup - but this was more so due to personal preference rather than anything wrong with the dish. I think if you like the sour profile this would be amazing! The fried sea bass marinated in sauce was a must-have. Beautifully presented and wonderfully tasty. The only downside is that the braised beef curry seemed bland in comparison. Braised beef very tender, and on its own would have been really yummy, but next to the fish seemed flavourless. The roti served as a side was wonderful though!
