Our recent dining experience at Elliston Vineyard was very disappointing and certainly overpriced considering the results of our experience. The appetizers and bread were fine and the desert was fine. The wine was so so considering this was at a reputable winery. The tannins were so predominant that the Cabernet was almost what I would call astringent. But regarding the wine, it was odd that only three wines were offered, all three in bottles were $168 each, but only one was offered by the glass at $36 per glass! I was taken aback that no wines were included with the meal, but were an extra charge. But the main course (beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, gravy and asparagus) were presented like a plate of “all you can eat” at the Moose Club social. The culprit was the gravy that was so salty that anchovies would swim ashore if given the chance. Regrettably the gravy was poured over everything so all portions were tainted. This was like Dinty Moore stew served at Denny’s for heavens sake! The help was polite and courteous, but seemingly untrained for serving at a fine dining atmosphere. Seemed like temps hired from the local college, adequate but not elegant. My wife and I have had fine dining experiences at the Elliston Winery over the last ten+ years, but they obviously have turned over the dining management to someone who does not get what that really means. At just under $400 for a dinner for two, we were expecting a more memorable experience……….well, on second thought, we did get that!

Im glad we went, my wife and I had an enjoyable experience but I don't think we will attend again. All of the wine selections were very expensive and there was only one wine available by the glass and it was $38/glass. The soup, salad and short rib were excellent but the Cornish game hen was dry. All of the waitstaff were very attentive and pleasant

The highlight was the property. The koi ponds and ostriches. There was no personality in the tea dining area. The tea selection was abismal and sparse. Tacky is best way to describe it. Big stain on tablecloth. Dead flowers in vases. Little to know attention to detail and that includes piles of stuff on the property. There were issues with the front door. It was a cold day and it would lock if shut. I had to get up half a dozen times to let people in. Then the door would be left open allowing the cold air to come in. Because staff, with coats on, were inattentive to this I had to get up and close it alternating turns with another guest. Don’t get me started on the quality of the food. Nope. Not for that price. This was a birthday gift and an embarrassing one at that.

Will never do tea here again! I do high tea about 3-4 times a year. The location is beautiful. It was chilly and they did not have any outdoor heaters. When we were finally seated, they didn’t come back for a good 15 min to take our order. For 2 people we got one small lukewarm pot of tea. Every place else in the Bay Area, each person gets their own tea. Not here. Then we had to wait for food and had to ask twice where it was. The desserts were good but the savory sandwiches were just ok. We had to ask for our pot to get more hot water. The service was the worst I’ve experienced. Will not be back.

We ordered 3 tea set but were surprised that one table only allow ONE tea (one tea pot) selection for whole table. My question is . Why we need to pay 3 different tea sets? If only allow selection of one tea pot.

The location was beautiful but the service was horrible. There are tables throughout the facility but only 2 people serving tea service. When we first arrived, I placed an order for French fries along side the tea service. They never came, i didn’t make a big deal until we decided to stay a bit longer. I told the waitress that our fries never came, could we place an order. 45 mins later, still no fries. She walked by and I asked her, did you place my order for fries, she said yes. 30 minutes later, no fries but the table in front of us got an order of fries. That’s when I got up and left. We had to prepay for tea service or else i wouldn’t have left a tip. She never checked in on us during our stay, we had to flag her down when we needed something. Cute place but never coming back! Service was HORRIBLE
