We were in Santa Fe for an overnight during a drive across campus and were fortunate to find El Rincon Cafe rather spontaneously so made a reservation. We learned right before our reservation that Chef had passed and became immediately concerned the food wouldn't be as excellent as the rave reviews stated. We decided to go anyway and were truly impressed. The staff is determined to carry on Chef Estevan's legacy and excellence and it showed. I tried their classics Chile Relleno and the Carne Adobada Ravioli which were absolutely delicious and looked just like all the photos I saw. The sauces were exquisite and the staff driven and dedicated. My dinner date had the steak which he couldn't stop raving about, again an exquisite sauce. We met Zach who had been with the restaurant for ten years. They are transitioning to a new era for the restaurant but all is still well and super tasty!

Tonight's cream of broccoli soup was superb! The enchiladas were some of the best we've ever tasted, and the trout in lemon butter was excellent! Highly recommend. Great quiet atmosphere.

I had a reservation & they emailed me shortly before my arrival that they could not serve any wine in the restaurant. They should have informed me 2-3 days before especially since I made my reservation over a week before & they knew they wouldn't be able to serve liquor. The food was good however my friends lamb was very tough. The soup was very good however the portion was absurdly small. I had to ask the runner for utensils because he cleared them & didn't replace them until I asked. Not very professional.

We have eaten at Estevan's (as this restaurant used to be called) numerous times before, but this was only our second visit at El Rincon. The menu is pretty much the same, but the dishes were tastier than they used to be. They do not yet have a liquor license, which is a shame, but the waiter assured us that they would have one next month. The prices are a bit high. The ambience is pretty much unbeatable.

Food was fantastic. Not having liquor license, which they had informed us about, so no surprise, was still quite a bummer. Can't wait to go back when they get their liquid license. But the bar downstairs was a nice after dinner drink spot and the waiter whenever offered to bring us our dessert there. Excellent service, though it was pretty dead probably because no liquor.

In a town with many fine restaurants, El Rincon deserves ranking at or near the top. Modest in size, it does not get the same attention as some of the more heralded restaurants. Yet it serves consistently superb meals, from appetizers through desserts
