Dolce Italia was established in 2010 by Tiziana Di Costanzo who came from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples. Using a combination of classic Italian dishes, family recipes passed down for generations, and warm hospitality, Dolce Italia has built a reputation in Sarasota as a destination for anyone seeking great food and ambiance. In 2015 Matthew joined as manager of the front of house and is now a managing partner of Dolce Italia. The kitchen staff trained by Tiziana from the beginning are still with the restaurant with Maria being the capocuoco.
Some of the specialities Dolce Italia has become famous for are the Napoletan Eggplant- a tender sautee eggplant with fresh tomatoes crowned with ricotte, the Trenne Dolce Italia- the signature pasta dish with creamy tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and mushroom.

The food was outstanding I had the lamb shank special and my husband had a pasta dish. Both were delicious!! Service was good as well! We will definitely return!!

Food was delicious! Very large portions! Staff was very friendly! Gnocchis were very light and tasty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Food in this small Italian restaurant in a strip mall is always really good. The menu has changed since last year and the food is even better. We will be back soon.

It’s a cute and small location that would make for a perfect family dinner holiday dinner or date night. The food was good however the atmosphere was not acceptable. The servers seem bothered and rushed. The air conditioning in the heat did not calibrate. Don’t sit in the front part of the restaurant by the window or you’ll freeze out whenever they decide to turn the air conditioning on. I was disappointed in the service and lack of professionalism. The location could be much better with some small improvements, however without acknowledgment that they fix these issues I won’t be going back.

I sincerely apologize for your unpleasant experience regarding the service. We were having issues with the AC system that have since been corrected, since we have no ceiling fans the air flow might have felt like AC. We wish we had a chance to fix that in the moment, we are happy to change tables upon request. We truly take pride with our service and when a customer walks away with an impression like yours it means we didn't do our job. We wish everyone to feel at home at Dolce Italia. I was part of the team that served you- we tried our best to connect but you didn't seem to want to engage with us. It felt like a private family dinner. It was mostly detailed questions that we thought we answered and requests we thought we filled. Once again, our apologies and thank you for the feedback.
