The food was great and our server was fantastic! The only negative was with how we were seated. We arrived 10 minutes early for a reservation and were told that the table was not ready and that we could sit at the bar or in the velvet room. This is fine, as long as the host informs us as soon as the table is ready and we are able to transfer any drinks ordered to our final check. The host did not inform us when the table was ready and the restaurant required the drinks ordered in the velvet room to be paid separately from our final check. Not a big deal but this disrupts the experience a bit when one has to wait for a table but would like to scan the menu and order a drink to start.

So not as good as 2 weeks ago when we were here. We sat in a different section where the overhead lights were just glaring into my eyes the whole time. They were like picture lights, but ceiling. We asked the manager if they could be turned down and he said he did the best he could, but they were still pretty uncomfortable. Two guests sat in regular seats and my partner, and I sat on a bench which was incredibly uncomfortable and weirdly low to the table. Three out of four of us had the crab leg special. It was kind of hard to find the crab legs in the dish. I had the Barada appetizer which was not as large as it was two weeks ago and not really as interesting. The tempura also was not hot and somewhat tasteless. Was really a disappointment since our first visit was spectacular.

We are very satisfied regular diners at 11 South so we wanted to try their new offering, City Grill, and what better occasion than my wife’s birthday! We were cheerfully greeted upon arriving and our table was ready immediately. The tables in the Tuscan Room are fairly close together so when we spied a different table than what had been assigned and asked for it, we were accommodated without question. Our server was energetic, friendly, efficient and attentive. My wife and I each had a cocktail and bottled sparkling water for the table. The drinks were generous and well prepared. We each had an appetizer, split a wedge salad (which they thoughtfully split in the kitchen) and an entree. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. Portions are generous. I asked for a glass of Trebbiano with my entree and a healthy pour was delivered to me just prior to entree arrival (not too early or, worse, late). Our server had the meal paced like a pro. We shared the bread pudding dessert (also delicious!) and each enjoyed a coffee drink. My wife’s Irish Coffee was the only minor disappointment as it was served in regular coffee mug without the usual whipped cream adornment. Overall, this was an excellent effort by City Grill. The menu has a few offerings that mirror those at 11 South (grilled Spanish octopus, etc.) but there is enough of a difference to stand on its own. We will certainly return and, having scoped out the dining rooms, we’ll know how to refine our reservation request to ask for the best table.

We have visited City Grille a handful of times. Upon entering the restaurant, the host seemed bothered to look up our reservation. Then when following him to the table we passed two of our party when walking through the bar and stopped briefly which annoyed the host and he rolled his eyes at least twice that I saw. We didn’t have a nice welcome in but Olivia was a wonderful server and the meal was delicious.

Our expectations were dashed when we walked in the door. Nothing like Wine Cellar! Zero or negative ambiance. Reservations were for a quiet spot to celebrate my birthday with my sig other. Sat all the way in small back room with no one. Great! Half way through our dining all these VERY loud people were seated in same small room. Recommended Wine good. Bread is a joke. Had to ask for it. Beet salad had a couple of tweezers drops of golden beets. Maybe a tiny bit of goat cheese. Another joke. Seafood pasta was very good. Expensive but good. We had to take ours home because the noise level was HORRIBLE!!! Being my birthday, we wanted some semblance of birthday cake so I ordered the chocolate mousse cake with ganache. ONCE AGAIN, a major disappointment. Cake was very dry. Mousse tasted old and ganache was not fresh either. We did not make a scene because it was my 72nd birthday and how many of those does one have left. However, this restaurant whose sister restaurant is 11 South needs to know about how poor their food and ambiance is. The best part of the evening was Mackenzie. She was extremely attentive to us and she made a very unpleasant birthday dinner (due to circumstances last year I did not get to celebrate last year so this was supposed to make up for it) okay only because of her sweet spirit. I wish we had gone to Chart House or Marker 32 or Cap Grille or even 11 South instead of wasting my birthday time and my sig’s money on this dining experience. The only good food was the seafood pasta-Fruit of the Sea. We will never return, ever. Be warned, if you dine there they will seat everyone together as the restaurant was not busy at all-we were there at 5 pm on a Wednesday-and the other dining areas were totally empty. They should have put us in a room by ourselves knowing how loud it gets and that way we could at least have finished our entree and then on to the dried up cake.

My first time to City Grille. I went there with dear friends from NC visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday. We all order something different to savor the most from the menu and we were very pleased. The food was delicious, the preparation unique, and the wine pairing worked nicely. The environment was welcoming and as a frequent diner of the wine cellar, I love the new look and refreshed space. Great service, great drinks, and delicious food. We had an wonderful evening.

superior service; our brunch entre's were perfectly cooked and delicious. My chicken and waffles entree was absolutely delicious as was the rest of our party. Great brunch menu and wine list and the bloody marys were the best we have ever had. Highly recommended!
