Chocolate Buddha undertook an AMAZING renovation in 2019 by Maddison Architects. We have a 22 seater SUSHI TRAIN open Wednesday to Sunday lunches 12 - 3pm and Wednesday to Saturday Dinners 5 - 8pm it includes an EXPRESS train which delivers hot food ordered via a tablet. We offer QR menus at each table for ease of ordering, splitting bills and menu with pictures and descriptions. This type of ordering is optional so always let us know if you prefer to order with us. It is a nice place, friendly and helpful staff but the food is so very so so to the point it does not match the price. We tried the chicken karaage which four of us can't finish because we thought they're a bit tasteless unless you dip heavily of the mustard sauce and we are not a big fun of it, agedashi tofu is bland like they forgot the seasoning, chicken teriyaki bento not bad (let's face it teriyaki marinade cant really go wrong), Glad we tried, we did not regret it but we wont come again.

What has happened from 12-months ago? Experience was underwhelming with 13 menu items ‘out of stock’ on menu and a sparse sushi-train. We had a 7.30pm Saturday night booking and atmosphere was busy/hectic/waiting for ordered food - contrasted to previously busy/snappy&orderly/enjoyable dining experience. Felt more like a sushi cafe and not like a Japanese restaurant dining experience. We would have stayed and ordered more if was the Chocolate Buddha of old.

Wanting a restaurant that is friendly for people who are gluten-free Chocolate Buddha's modern Japanese menu was perfect - it even lists all their gf dishes separately. The food was wonderful - our group enjoyed a range of dishes with the sushi, Korean fried chicken and yakiniku among the favourites. The drinks list including ume and yuzu was interesting and fun. The service was great even on a frantically busy Saturday lunchtime. Can recommend!

We consistently find that the food is delicious and tasty along with the staff who always provide friendly and efficient customer service. The reasonably priced menu is interesting and extensive. This is a fabulous place to dine
