Chef Yu serves up deliciously spicy dishes at his namesake restaurant in the Garment District. His specialties are the Beef Tendon and marinated beef with hot pepper sauce, but that doesn't mean all Yu's dishes aren't standouts! Not only are they delicious, but they are inexpensive. Best Happy Hour in NYC! Outstanding authentic Chinese cuisine. Had a nice table with view of the street for people watching. Nice atmosphere and quiet. Perfect for a dinner before the David Gilmour show at MSG! Rock On!

For the first time at Chef Yu I had a problem with my first waiter. I chose a table in the back part of the room for the first time in many dinners since the tables at the windows where i always sit were full. This waiter did not understand English at all. I asked for a mai-tai and he never brought it so i had to ask several times again. finally he brought one that was strangely weak and not very good. Then when my guest arrived and the same waiter eventually came (after a long wait) to get our orders we had to ask about wheat-free items and this was impossible for him to understand. So finally we got another waitress who was, as usual, excellent. I'm very sorry to have had my first unpleasant experience at Chef Yu!

My first visit was highlighted by a welcoming staff, comfortable seating, and delicious food, all in a great environment. The windows allow for lots of magnificent natural light in the daytime. The house lighting is warm and inviting as the sun sets. Don't just walk by.... Walk in.

As a party of six, we decided to try some old favorites and some new dishes. We shared 3 appetizers and ordered an additional order of scallion pancakes. We ordered 4 entrees, and ate every scrap of food. All of the food was incredible. The service was excellent; wefelt well cared for. This will be our regular spot.

I love coming here. Best Chinese food I’ve had in NYC. I come here very often. The killer kool-aid is amazing & the spicy diced chicken is a must try meal

Been there many times. A pleasant room that’s quiet enough to have a conversation. The chicken and pine nuts wrapped in a lettuce leaf is always yummy.
