Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Charlie’s never disappoints. We were early but they always try to accommodate! We love the staff that have been there for many years!

Favorite restaurant on HHI. Always excellent service and food. Server Amanda treated us great. We had pan roast oysters with sherry cream broth, roast oysters ,Monkfish with wild mushrooms sauce, ,very good, blackened redfish, even better, also half priced bottle of wine night, Desert, pave chocolate, caramel cake, and cream brûlée. We have been dinning here once a year since the 70s. When Charlie’s was where the sea grass grill is now.

Service from Melanie was friendly and professional. Pacing was good and the food, as always, beautifully presented and delicious. Lunch is an incredible value. Charlies is consistent and one of our very favorite spots.

Overall good service, great atmosphere, and the food was expertly prepared. French cuisine that was not over the top. Good value for the money. We both tried the fish dishes which were exquisite.

We had a 715 reservation and were seated next to a large very noisy table. It was difficult to hear anything the waitress was saying My Parmesan crusted cod was dry. The owner was made aware and brought us a mushroom sauce for it. While it helped, I was given only about 2 tablespoons of the sauce which helped, but didn't cover the fish. I was disappointed in Charlie's ! I would give it 3 stars!
