Catch & Release

Seafood
Catch & Release is a fun, casual seafood restaurant serving up fresh dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. The high ceilings, white walls and hanging nautical lights make the inside of the restaurant feel open and stylish at the same time. Bright red chairs next to dark wood tables fill the dining room, and ropes that might have come off a ship weave their way back and forth between the rafters overhead. The menu is a seafood lover's dream. Chef Jason Neroni is known throughout Los Angeles for his delicious seafood dishes, and Catch & Release is no exception. Appetizers include little-neck clams, bay scallops, Dungeness crab and oysters on the half shell. Guests who come hungry can order one of Catch & Release's combination platters like The Mariner or The Baller, which feature different amounts of four to six appetizer items.

Another great casual but sophisticated seafood restaurant on the west side. Small menu but very fresh beautifully prepared seafood. HoJo style clam strips outstanding. Unique well done cocktails. Wonderfully prepared swordfish and branzino. Will go back. Wait service terrific. Great people.

Most importantly the food was good. Especially the Atlantic swordfish Also, the service was very friendly and helpful. I was a little disappointed with the ambiance. From the street it looks like a classy place but when you walk in you feel that you went in the wrong door. Most of the seating is metal picnic tables. There is virtually no decor and the noise level is enhanced by the echo in the room. All in all, I will go back.

Food selections were unique. Service was very good. Wine list was not extensive, but good choices. Noise level was high inside the restaurant, but quite nice on the patio.

Everything that we ate was amazing. Went with my friend and we shared everything so we could try more. Started with the hojo fried clams, and they were as good as the ones we had when we were little. Next we had the oysters, which were as fresh and delicious as could be. After that we had one of the best lobster rolls that I have ever had. Can't wait to go back!

This place is strangely not as popular as it should be. Some of the best seafood dishes I've ever tasted. Didn't have one average or bad thing. It was all outstanding. Our servers suggestions were spot on and the wines were beautiful. New favorite!

Food was really just average. Buttered rolls were like warm and dry. Salad was bland other than the bleu cheese. Fish and chips was over battered and over fine. Cole slaw was too heavy with mayo. Brussell sprouts were over seasoned and over done. Typical of the chefs coming at superba and rose cafe, he uses tons of oil, butter and salt. Atmosphere was kitche and loud and wasn't that interesting. Service was good and our waiter seemed interested and concerned. Overall, it's fine if your in the hood seeing a movie etc but for this kind of cooking salt air, fishing with dynamite, blue plate oysterette and water grill are all much better

Kind of hard to believe it, but I may have found Brussels Sprouts that supplant my current faves from Tin Roof Bistro. Sweet little things, roasted, with lots of Parmesean and garlic to give them a pesto-y quality. Yum. We were stuffed but kept eating them, because. The cod poutine was a *great* twist on the French Canadian classic, much lighter and tastier. My dining partner devoured his huevos rancheros, and the rest of us weren't far behind with our Salmon Benedict and Shrimp and Grits. Add bottomless mimosas and Bloodys (margaritas were also a choice, but none of us partook, so I can't comment), and it was a great way to while away a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.

We sat outside at the far end of the patio and had a nice quiet nook. We dined with another couple who we hadn't seen in a while and so we wanted to catch up and enjoy conversation. The table was perfect for that. The staff was friendly and attentive - and gave great recommendations. We loved the buratta and the ho jo clams for appetizers and then all shared the branzino (delicious), lobster roll (really good!), brussle sprouts, and fried chicken. Everything was great - and we'd definitely go back. Liked the casual vibe. Felt like a good old fashion fish house - but with extra care.
