Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

    Best dinner we've had in years! Started with Ceviche, which was very refreshing, and had Haitian Griot (excellent seasoning, cooked to perfection), Jerk Chicken (the real deal), Guyanese Style Roti (melts in your mouth) and Grilled Cabbage (elevating cabbage to tasting levels I didn't know this was possible). We didn't have room for dessert but it was highly recommended and our server offered us half a portion of Cassareep Ice Cream. Glad we experienced this as well!!!

    The service is always amazing! The people who work at Canje are welcoming, helpful and friendly! The food is outstanding! The flavors are so different and blend so well. Highly recommend!

    Only 4 bites of beef in the wagyu beef curry for $30… felt like a huge ripoff. Same concept for the Amberjack ceviche. We’ve been to all of the major foodie spots in Austin and this was a very disappointing experience at what is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in town.

    I’ve been multiple times and enjoy bringing friends and family visiting Austin here because the food and cocktails are consistently good. They were able to move my grandparents and I to a quieter section of the restaurant and were extremely accommodating overall. Great service and pleasant staff. It is on the pricy side ($110-130 per person), but the flavors are varied and unusual compared to other restaurants in the area.
