Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown. In 2022, Callie was acclaimed as one of America's top new restaurants by Esquire and Robb Report, and received both a Bib Gourmand and a Plate from the Michelin Guide. Callie is a dedicated supporter of Feeding San Diego, having contributed over 1 million meals to those in need in San Diego since its launch. Swikard is set to open his second restaurant in La Jolla in 2025.

From the OpenTable editors: Chef and San Diego native Travis Swikard is an alum of iconic restaurants like DANIEL, and that pedigree shines at this sophisticated Mediterranean spot named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2022. Feast on plates like lemon saffron linguine or harissa-grilled lamb chops, or go all-in on a five-course family-style tasting menu. Either way, a meal in the inviting space decked with blue tiles and lush greenery feels like a lively dinner party on every visit.

Food was excellent. Service was rushed. Corkage fee was unacceptable ($50 plus 20% mandatory tip for a total of a $60 corkage fee, which is outrageous). Do not bring your own wine unless you like paying $60 for them to open it.

Great food and service! The sneaky auto 20% tip left us with a bad taste in our mouth though.

Amazing food. We had the Mediterranean feast with wine pairing. The wines were exquisitely paired and the food was delicious. The portions were perfect sized. We left full but not uncomfortably so. Service was attentive once they got everyone seated in the first seating of the night. But our waitress was covering a large number of tables and you could see her attentive to each table going through options. Our seating was ably saved by an attentive hostess who took a cocktail order. The food was perfectly prepared and seasoned. Beautiful space with excellent dinner. The picture of the dude just a wonderful bonus. It really pulls the room together!

Did not expect the course dinner to be one dish per course to share among 2 people and the portion is normal size, not necessarily bigger. Felt cheated for the price

First time at Callie and dined during their Valentine's event 5 course menu. We were assigned bar seating and I thought it would less of an experience, but Gabriel was the best bartender/host. He took care of us and always had a great way of describing the dishes with a smile. We could tell he is passionate about his job. He checked in at the right frequency, and food always came out perfect. Would love to go back when we can explore the full menu!

This is a 5 star experience! Our party of four tried four different cocktails, 12 different dishes and three desserts. Impossible to pick a favorite and impossible to select anything that was not exceptional. Additionally, the chef and team were super sensitive to serving any dishes that would be an allergy issue. So the food was glorious, the chef and team brilliant…yet the staff is what elevated the experience. From our two servers, their assistant, the sommelier and the front of house - one word - Brilliant. Best meal of the year winner
