   We were welcomed warmly upon arrival at the front desk. Our table was ready on the front porch. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our server. Beth knew it was my birthday. She remembers every year when I am celebrating my birthday. We had our drink order done promptly. My husband had a Bloody Mary which he thought was excellent. I ordered the chicken velvet soup for dinner. The soup was accompanied by a baguette. The soup was excellent. My husband ordered the gumbo poutine and the French onion soup. He thought both were amazing. For dessert, I ordered the Key Lime pie. My key lime pie came with a birthday candle which was a nice touch. The Key Lime pie is fabulous. My husband ordered the coconut cake which was wonderful. Beth was an incredible server who is very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend the Cake Bake Shop for a Birthday celebration or any occasion.

   Very loud, crowded and expensive for mediocre food but I sort of expected it to be that way. My 5 year old granddaughter loved it, so it was worth the $200 I spent for four people for her birthday.

   We come every Christmas for a special Dinner with my daughter and granddaughter. Austin was our server he made sure my granddaughter had the most magical experience!!!

   It was our first time visiting and I’d heard nothing but high praise. It was definitely gorgeous with the chandeliers and Christmas decorations. But, in my opinion, I was disappointed with some of my food choices. I’ll start with the cake- I ordered the birthday cake and the icing was listed as buttercream. However, it was more of a buttery whipped icing than the heavier buttercream I was expecting. Needless to say, my $17 slice was disappointing. As for my food, the all-arugula side salad with my quiche was A LOT of arugula. I think a mixed green salad would’ve been much more palatable. Maybe the lemon dressing wasn’t sweet enough to complement the peppery taste of the arugula? Finally, my $8 regular, no-syrup latte was in a tiny cup that I finished in about 4 sips. Sooooo, I guess as a newbie, I’ll know what NOT to order next time. Because I do believe there will be a next time. Our waitress was fantastic! Plus, my daughter DID enjoy her grilled cheese, the truffle fries were some of the best I’ve ever had, and the Millionaire Cake my daughter ordered was really tasty.

To alleviate some confusion about the buttercream, we are a European-style bakery and use a Swiss meringue buttercream, which has a 6% higher butterfat content than standard American buttercream, which may account for the texture.
