Unfortunately the valentines menu was not fantastic. Overcooked and 1/4 ribeye, the strawberry shortcake was dry.

My husband and I had a lovely time at Cacio e Pepe! The food was delicious. Norma was our server and she was so attentive, answered our questions and very good at her job. This was our second time there to eat and drink and we will definitely be returning.

Our server was great, but food was mid and expensive. Didn’t help that my salad had a piece of plastic in it. Server took it off the bill and was embarrassed. She was very helpful.

My server was very attentive and explained everything on the menu. He gave us suggestions and timed the meal perfectly so we were able to enjoy wine, appetizers and chat before our main course. I enjoyed my tiramisu martini, and then walked to the speak easy after. Prices were very fair, and the food and service was great. Second time back, and will come again. With prices increasing everywhere, I know I can come here and actually enjoy spending my money.

Over all great experience from San Diego restaurant week. It can get a little loud when the restaurant is close to full. Standout is the food, well seasoned, prepared, and worth trying out.

Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were strong and delicious. And that's what saved this experience from being a total disappointment. The food was just ok. Most everything was overcooked. The coconut shrimp was too brown. The chicken had very little juices. The dry aged steak was blackened on the outside, and it was so dry we couldn't eat it. The mushroom risotto was decent, but the veal, which should have been tender enough to cut with a butterknife, was unusually tough. The tiramisu had a nice coffee, though it overpowered the other flavors. The cannolli filling didn't taste quite right, and the shell had the taste of overcooked pizza dough. It jad none of the light crispiness that a real cannolli should have. Overall, I would suggest skipping this place unless you don't have any other options.

SDRW Menu - This restaurant experience fell short of expectations. I started with the Lamb Lollipops, which, like the dry-aged ribeye I ordered next, were bland. Despite requesting medium-rare, our server informed us the chef could only prepare the meat medium or well-done. While they graciously agreed to try for medium-rare, both dishes arrived cooked medium and, more egregiously, weren't cooked with any seasoning. The lamb was dry and lacked any flavor. The ribeye, advertised as dry-aged, showed no evidence of that and tasted like a standard cut of beef. The wait time between our appetizer and main course was 30-45 minutes. While the wine selection was decent, the pours were noticeably below average.

We were very excited to check out Cacio E Pepe for San Diego restaurant week. We like to try new restaurants we haven’t been to for Restaurant Week; because it’s an opportunity for restaurants to showcase the best of their menu and really highlight what makes them special. With that is mind we were disappointed that nothing on their restaurant week menu was on their regular menu. For the main course they listed a dry aged ribeye, but when my husband went to order it the waitress told him the chef will only cook it med well and up. Since he couldn’t get his steak the way he wanted it he chose a different entre. Long story short, all the proteins were over cooked. The lollipop lamb chops, veal and salmon, all overcooked. We were very disappointed with the food and won’t be going back.
