We went here for Valentine's Day. They made us order from a prefixed menu and did not offer their regular menu. Because every other restaurant in DC is booked on Valentine's Day, we had no choice but to stay. For the amount of money we paid, we received such a disappointing meal. Nothing was particularly delicious to justify the $300 I spent for a table of two (no drinks). I do not intend on coming back.

We chose Butterworth's to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. We had a thoroughly delightful experience from the moment or arrival to departure. Butterworth's was hopping, every table and bar stool occupied. It's noisy, but we were able to conduct intimate conversation without raising our voices. The food was original, and delicious. However, to our disappointment, the tables around, obviously occupied by experienced Butterworth's patrons, enjoyed bowls of french fries - which we did not see on the menu (guess you had to be an insider), we won't forget for next time. And there will be a next time, probably with additional couples.

The food was well-presented, but the flavors were sort of bland. It took half an hour to get a martini, and then it was the wrong one. A server named Anthony was a highlight, though, very helpful and attentive.

Total different menu than what’s listed on their website. No sweet options on a bench menu— two eggs on top of one piece of sourdough is over $20…tea served in a coffee mug. Not the experience they put online.

Food was good, but it did seem as though every dish was trying to win a James Beard award. All were very good, but the menu is missing some safer options for those with a less refined palete. Our server was very attentive, but didn’t seem to know the menu or didn’t understand how to describe the dishes. Decor and ambience were great. Dining area is on the smaller side. Prices were what I’d expect, I’d gauge it 4 out of 5 stars on price (not a reflection of value, just what things cost.) Dinner for 3 with (two) cocktails and tip came to around $215.

Very limited menu but small plates nicely done. Ambience is lovely and staff very nice and professional. Not sure I could see having dinner here but linch was nice though expensive.

The food was delicious, but first the bartender and then the server kept bringing us new menus, first an old cocktail menu, then an old dinner menu, then a brunch menu when we were there for dinner, then a much shorter menu… The menu is quite limited and the cocktail we loved, La Chose, was taken off the menu today. The server also tried to remove our drinks before we finished with them and we felt a bit rushed. The complimentary dessert was delicious. Still some opening issues to work through it seems.

Our server was very attentive, the meal was not impressive, although it was pretty. Expensive for what we received.
