The best lobster bisque I’ve ever had. The waitress could’ve been more attentive did not ask if we wanted a second round of drinks

It’s still THE BEST prime rib anywhere - so tender and perfectly cooked and seasoned. And the French onion soup is still divine. And those will bring me back. However, the “butter” on the baked potato tastes like margarine; I was given only three or four green onions for my baked potato, whereas they used to leave a whole 3 bowl caddy on your table filled with real butter, sour cream, and green onions so you could put as much as you wanted on your potato; and still not used to the whole Las Vegas vibe they switched to a few years back with the waitresses wearing 12” skirts and extremely low cut tops. I miss the Chicago class of the place. And the butter!

Thank you for your feedback! We're so glad you still love our prime rib and French onion soup—those classics never go out of style! We appreciate your thoughts on the baked potato toppings and will take that into consideration. As for the uniforms, they’ve been part of our steakhouse’s unique identity since 1968, and our servers love them and do very well. We truly value your continued support and hope to welcome you back again soon!

Food was great, the venue was beautiful, but the waitresses were dressed as if they came from Hooters. My wife and I were wondering about leaving, but we knew we wouldn't get reservations anywhere else that late on Valentine's day. Once again, the food was great, but the waitresses outfits were not respectful and we felt very uncomfortable.

We had a reservation and were told to wait. People around us order burgers, but we were told we can’t have it (something stupid about the lunch vs dinner menu, but the server refused to ask the kitchen). Slow service, bread midway through the meal. Totally not worth the money and the servers uniform is offensive and sexist.
Butcher Shop Steakhouse - San DiegoResponded 1 day ago
We appreciate your feedback and sincerely apologize for the experience you had. We understand how frustrating it can be to wait with a reservation, and we’ll continue working to improve our seating process. Regarding the menu, our lunch service ends at 3 PM sharp, and at that time, we transition fully to our dinner menu. We apologize if this wasn’t clearly communicated, and we’ll be addressing this with our staff to ensure better service in the future. As for our uniforms, they’ve been a signature part of our steakhouse since 1968, adding to our unique atmosphere. Our servers are comfortable in them, embrace them, and love wearing them, as they contribute to the classic charm of our restaurant. We appreciate you giving us a try and hope you’ll consider visiting us again.

Very disappointed in the dry aged New York cut. Although the portion was ample and it was cooked perfectly, when a pay $80.00 a la carte for a dry aged piece of beef I expect some tenderness and flavor enhancement. The menu does not indicate how long they dry age. Again when you dine at a restaurant that prides itself on its beef, I wouldn't think you would have to ask that question. Shame on me for not doing so. The steak tasted like a Select grade New York freshly cut a couple of days ago with no marbling. Although I was quite hungry, I didn't bother to finish it or take any home. On the flip side, my wife's grilled salmon Cesar salad was delicious. The romaine was charred to perfection.
Butcher Shop Steakhouse - San DiegoResponded 1 day ago
We appreciate your honest feedback and are sorry to hear that the dry-aged New York didn’t meet your expectations. We take great pride in our steaks, and our dry-aging process is designed to enhance both flavor and tenderness. We will certainly review this to ensure our guests receive the best possible experience. In the future, our team is always happy to provide details on our aging process or recommend a cut that best suits your preferences. We’re glad to hear your wife enjoyed the grilled salmon Caesar, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again soon!

If you are looking for a classic dinner house of the 60s-70s this is it.Even the background music is retro which is fun. My companion and I went for Valentines Day Lunch and it was delicious. Our service was great. With the fireplace the ambiance was perfect. I have to say I was surprised the female servers were barely clothed with ample cleavage showing and a "Skirt" which barley covered their back side . My companion loved it but yet the male servers were in long pants how about tight shorts for the guys as well . We women deserve eye candy as well. This isn't Hooters !

Service and ambiance is good. It’s a great business lunch spot. But for a steakhouse, the food is very subpar. Especially for the prices. The top sirloin steak was tough and chewy. It was cooked to my preference, but it was a very tough and chewy steak. The fries were nothing special either.
Butcher Shop Steakhouse - San DiegoResponded 1 day ago
We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed the service and ambiance. We are currently looking into replacing our top sirloin with a beautiful flat iron steak to enhance both tenderness and flavor. Additionally, we offer more than just regular fries—guests can choose from duck fat fries, truffle fries, or onion rings for a more elevated side option. We always strive to provide the best quality, and we regret that your experience didn’t fully meet expectations. We hope you’ll give us another try in the future!
