Went there with the family to celebrate my son’s birthday. Service overall was good. Food was decent…could have been much better. We ordered octopus, tagliatelle, and chawanmushi for appies. They are not bad but a bit “busy”. For mains, a number of us ordered the duck and it was cooked perfectly, as was the steak and lamb. We all agreed though, that the accompanying “sides” were a miss. They were by and large a jumbled mess of “stuff” (mix of veggies, spatzle, and god knows what else) that largely detracted from the main course. Most of it was scraped to the side and untouched. We also ordered a side of potatoes and beets and again, found that there was too much going on in both. Our suggestion would be to keep it simple. Ambience was ok but we were stuck in a room where there was a view of the convention centre next door. The dining room with ocean views (where I sat the last time I was in) would have been much preferred. For a restaurant of this calibre, my mom correctly noted that the table seemed a bit shabby. Not a deal breaker but it’s all in the details. Lastly, I have to say I’m disappointed that they didn’t acknowledge my son’s birthday at all. Would have been a nice touch to bring a small piece of cake or something just to say Happy Birthday. It was noted both in my reservation and when the hostess called to confirm (and she specifically asked and made a note of it). My son isn’t a dessert fan but again, it’s a small gesture that goes a long way to making him (and us for that matter) feel recognized and appreciated. All in all the entire experience was mediocre at best

Phenomenal service and really interesting menu. I’m from NYC so food wise it take a lot to impress me, but this was very good. In particular, the cauliflower starter and the beet starter were phenomenal. My main, the sea bass with crab, was okay. I didn’t taste the crab, and felt the fish was bland. Excellent cocktail and mocktail list, and strong wines by the glass. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. Despite being surrounded by diners, the way they situated the tables allows you to feel like you are the only diners there. It is a pricier meal, good for special occasions or expense accounts.

Dining at Botanist was an incredible experience. From the attentive, knowledgeable staff, to the beautiful atmosphere and of course most importantly, the delicious, unique food.

I highly recommend the Botanist. I had the scallops from the graze section and the potatoes as a side. Excellent. It was just enough. I had a cocktail that was beautiful- seemed there was a great selection of what I would call “clean” cocktails (no syrups) which I appreciate. Our server was so nice and helpful. We had a gluten free cracker that was really tasty. I have allergies and the chef is very accommadating.

As New Yorkers, we have pretty high standards when it comes to dining, and we were truly pleased with the food. Everything was outstanding—the beef carpaccio was the best we’ve ever had, and the salmon was a 10/10. Highly recommend!

Amazing service, ambience. I’m not a very adventurous eater so the tasting menu was a great choice for someone to try new flavours.
