Bonnie Gull Seafood Shack is a clarion call to British Seafood; a nostalgic journey to the seaside holidays of our youth; a showcase of the best produce from British shores; a seaside restaurant in the city…
The Bonnie Gull Philosophy

On this little island we call home we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the finest seafood in the world; Wester Ross Lobster and Langoustine, Devon Brown Crab, Loch Ryan Oysters, Manx Queenies, and Shetland Mussels as well as stunning local fish such as Cornish Mackerel, North Sea Haddock, Selsey Cod and Gigha Halibut. We source our seafood direct from day-boats around the coast with a menu that changes every day to showcase the mornings’ catch. At Bonnie Gull we’re offering a new approach to seafood in London — accessible, affordable, simple, fresh, responsibly sourced and 100% British!

We had an incredible meal at Bonnie Gull's seafood shack. Having walked past several times we wanted to go there for a birthday date. The sole was beautiful, the Bouillabaisse outstanding and the friendliness of the wait staff and fellow diners made it one of the most special meals we have had in a long time

We enjoyed ourself very much. We liked the staff, sympatico and attentive. The dishes were delicous. I never had scallops before as delicious as those (divine) and the combination with grapefruit is very nice. Then a scrumptious main followed, accompanied by a good glass of wine. We`d come back anytime

This back-street Fitzrovia restaurant calls itself a shack to warn you that it will be a homely rather than up-scale place, but don't think harbour-side fish stall selling whelks in polystyrene cups. Rather, the restaurant has a cosy corner-shop feel, with good plain furniture and a nice relaxed feel. There are seats outside which would make a nice place to eat on a warm day/evening. The blackboard map of the British Isles showing where most of the that day's fish had been sourced was a nice touch. Service was informal but professional, and the menu offered just enough choice to feel you had options whilst remaining confident everything really was market-fresh. Everyone in our party was delighted with the food, which included think chunks of turbot, Manx scallops, lobster raviolo and wild sea bass. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the flavours were well-judged. Perhaps some dishes would have benefited from a dash of intense sauce to excite the palette, but otherwise everything was first class. There is also a good wine list - majoring on whites, naturally enough - with choice across the price range. Overall a very pleasant evening - we will certainly be going back.

Booked dinner at the Bonnie Gull Seafood Shack to celebrate an anniversary with my fiancee. Both of us being lovers of seafood we were particularly excited about going as there aren't too many seafood specialists in the capital that don't charge a fortune or who offer seafood as their main selling point as opposed to being an afterthought. Bonnie Gull looks as hipster as their name suggests although the clientele ranges from suburban families to hipster foodies to elderly revellers. A place for everyone then. We ordered the Roasted Seafood Platter on account of it's mouth watering description with a side of tenderstem brocolli with hazelnut crumb and their rosemary fries. The food arrived very promptly and looked spectacular. The platter (the table next to us decided to try to cold option and it looked equally as impressive) was a sight to behold with different seafood piled. The sides are also of satisfactory size and thankfully weren't the highlight of the meal. The seafood was cooked to perfection, the fish in particular being the perfect texture. Flavoured sauces and dips were available but the taste of the seafood au naturelle was sufficient to encourage a few 'Wow's from us both. The staff were extremely friendly, we had actually been late for our booking due to public transport issues but as the restaurant was fairly empty a table outside (this was in the summer - unseasonably hot day in May) was very quickly prepared for us. They know their menu and they certainly know how to sell you their dishes! All in all a fantastic place. This is a rare gem, there aren't plenty fish of this quality in the sea.
