Nice to go to a great French restaurant with a reasonable wine list. We will be coming back.

First time in their new location: Even though their new space isn’t as intimate, their service hasn’t changed (great thing!), and their food seemed to even better! Wonderful as always.

We have been regular customers at the old La Source and we were eager to check the new place. The location, close to the Grove St Path station, is less intimate and cozy that the Morris St location. No more terrace, of course, which was such an added value. This being said, much of the old furniture and décor have been transferred, which is a plus. The noise level is very low, which is a blessing nowadays, considering the blaring music in so many restaurants. The food was even better than before. I had the coq au vin blanc which was absolutely delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. Even though we will always miss the charm of the old La Source, we will come back to the new one.

We had a gift card here. We ordered the french onion soup. It was fair but gave me a stomach ache later on. Also, the preparation for mine was different than my fiance. His was very cheesey and mine was not. My fiance and I ordered the steak au poivre and lamb chops. The steak was drowned in the sauce and the sauce was quite oily. The meet was over cooked and tough. The host came over and they were very gracious in getting me a new meal but he then said “perhaps you don’t like the concept of the steak”. I’ve been to many high end steak houses, and I very much love the concept of a steak au poivre. Everywhere I’ve gone, it’s always given on the side since the meat itself should also be delicious on its own. The meat was not good. My fiancés lamb chops were very undercooked. They fixed this and he enjoyed the lamb chops in the end. I got the coq au vin which was pretty good. The waitress was very gracious to ensure we enjoyed our meals. All that said, we will not be going back. The food is not great and the ambiance/decor is lacking. The old location was small but a lot more charming.

First time visiting this restaurant. Mussels were great and also had the steak frites. My friend had the onion soup and scallops. All delicious. Would definitely come back.

We had a lovely burrata, my date enjoyed her fish and the wine was a great pour and very enjoyable. Unfortunately, my steak was one for the ages. I was sawing it—and that was barely working. It was inedible. Tough, chewy, nervy…I mean jaw on the floor type stuff. I said something to the waitress for the first time in my life—I’m not that guy. She was kind enough to remove it from the bill. I’m rooting for them, I would try again if others I know have a better experience. Maybe I got the bad day we all have. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This was our first time at their new location. We had been regular diners at their former location in Paulus Hook. The only thing I was a little surprised about was how little had actually changed, same menu, most of the same furniture, same staff. Given we always enjoyed it in the past that was reassuring but on the other hand I had hoped they would use the change to make some updates to the menu for variety sake. Otherwise all good.
