The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

    Food and service fantastic. Noise levels ridiculously loud - impossible to have a conversation without shouting. Shame as unlikely to bother revisiting.

    great food as always, lovely pub overall and I like the atmosphere if there's one thing I tend to always notice its not very warm in there and we ended up eating with our coats on! not that comfortable but everything else is great

    Hadn’t been to the Bird in Hand in a few years but now realise I’ve missed something. Took a friend for a birthday yesterday. The whole experience from start to finish was most enjoyable. We were given a choice of table on arriving and served promptly with a drink. We chose three courses from the set price menu which I felt was particularly good value with a fair choice. The prawn starter was delicious as was my friend’s soup. We both had Boeuf Bourguignon for a main course which was flavoursome and melt in the mouth tender. We finished with the banana split which was beautifully presented and good. Our server was delightful and all in all, we had an excellent dining experience. I certainly won’t leave it so long before revisiting.

    As usual the welcome was warm as we were shown to our table on arrival, provided with menus and asked for our drinks order which were delivered promptly. We both ordered fish and chips which came with tartar sauce in a small dish. The food was piping hot. The fish was excellent and covered with a light, crispy batter. Neither of us ordered a dessert on this occasion but finished with cappuccino which was accompanied by a chocolate. A most enjoyable lunch. Thank you Bird in Hand!

    We had a delicious Sunday lunch yesterday. We were a table of eight all had different dishes, which arrived all together, beautifully cooked and served by the excellent team. The seafood platter or two is a great sharing starter for a group. Looking forward to our next visit.

    I have never been disappointed with any meal I have ever had at the Bird in Hand! Consistently good quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. We were a big party this evening and it was busy, but the service was excellent - as always.
