Berts Jazz Bar encapsulates the sleek elegance of the art deco era, complimented by the very best in live jazz, fabulous cocktails and mouth-watering food.

Transport yourself back to the Art Deco glamour of 1930’s New York and the Jazz Age in Belfast’s only dedicated Jazz bar and restaurant: Berts Bar at The Merchant Hotel. Soak up the sophisticated atmosphere and let the cool jazz melodies wash over you. A handpicked list of cocktails completes the extensive drinks selection. A French bistro style menu is complemented by an extensive wine list and, of course, exemplary service. Berts offers live jazz seven nights a week.

All table reservations are for dining purposes only, unfortunately we do not take drinks only bookings.

    Booked for joint birthday/valentines evening from the moment we got there the service that we received was excellent the food was exceptional and excellent value for money. Loved the performance throughout the evening what more that I can say except A massive thank you to the front of house team those in the kitchen and the performers contributed to the ambiance and made our special evening on to remember

    We booked Bert’s to celebrate a couple of big birthdays and Bert’s did not disappoint! The staff, food and ambiance was all lovely. Our Waitress Louise looked after us fantastically and made sure our glasses were always full 😆. A lovely relaxed meal in a beautiful setting.

    Overall we enjoyed our experience at Bert’s Jazz Bar. The food was very tasty, only minor niggle was that my beef was a bit fatty in the middle but that’s not always obvious in a joint of meat and it was cooked to perfection. We also really enjoyed the jazz music and overall ambience. The only thing that let down the evening was that waiter assigned to our section didn’t seem as attentive as others. Our water was only replenished once and the people at the table next to us had to walk around us to get their wine from the ice bucket so they top up their own glasses.

    This is my first time dining in Bert's Jazz Bar and we will be back! When we arrived the Jazz duo was warming up, we chose the chateaubriand and got a lovely surprise as the chef sent us a little treat before our main. Delicious! The food was extraordinarily amazing, the service was attentive and as I was driving they offered great service on mocktails as well as a Singapore Sling that wasn't on the cocktail menu. Amazing food, fantastic service and great ambience!

    Overall experience was marvelous. Only slight disappointment was advertising prior to the evening stated 'Piano jazz' and this was not the case. We listened to jazz guitarist instead. Complimentary dessert for my partner's birthday celebration was a lovely gesture. Keep up the good work and thanks again

    We always visit Berts when we are back home in Belfast. Simply put its top class service from start to finish. The food is served to the highest standard. We have never been disappointed. Great to have the Jazz pianist playing during our lunch. All the quality drinks you could ask for available. Lorcan who looked after us was fabulous and made our experience all the more enjoyable. We will be back again.
