   We heard rave reviews about Bench however it was not that great. Making comparisons I have to mention Engine Social Dining, Sowerby Bridge is outstanding small plates fabulous atmosphere, lots to choose from on the menu, excellent price. Bench menu not a lot of choice, atmosphere not great really and the icing on the cake was the bill! We had olives, bread and butter, one lemon sole (recommended for two however very small) and a butternut squash side with a bottle of wine, now here is the crunch the wine was almost half the price of the bill so be prepared to have to fork out if you like your wine. Then at the end of the meal the waitress appeared with the payment device that asked for a gratuity of ten, fifteen or twenty percent. I didnt appreciate that after the price of the wine, however I gave the tip but felt on the spot and embarrassed not to give a tip. Anyway its up to you but just saying there are so many great places to eat now in our area where you can get a good bottle of wine for half the price and food that is more substantial and a really great atmosphere.

   Great food, lovely atmosphere. Would book earlier on in the evening to make sure you have a full menu choice.
