Beeside Balcony is a hidden gem in La Jolla Village, CA with a relaxed seaside chic décor where guests enjoy global mediterranean cuisine and ocean views from interior and the balcony. A third generation chef of Spanish and Italian descent, and hailing form Paris, France, Christophe's restaurant career began at 17 in the kitchen of his father's restaurant in Pasadena when they first emigrated to the USA. Upon returning to southern California in 2011, Christophe spent 8 years as the managing partner of Eddie V's Prime Seafood in La Jolla. Here he deepened his knowledge of sourcing and cooking the freshest seafood available, while delivering world class service. The laid back coastal vibe of La Jolla, combined with the attention to detail from Christophe's fine dining background, infuses Beeside Balcony with an easy elegance that elevates any gathering, and makes the perfect backdrop to showcase his global mediterranean menu. I would like to start by saying the location is great being close to the beach and the other La Jolla shops. The cocktails were really great with creative flavors. I would especially recommend the sensory overload, and apricot honey house. The honey options are also great tasting and I appreciate that they offer selling take home that honey that benefits the bees. However I would not recommend going to their speakeasy the honey pot. As soon as we arrived it was difficult to flag down someone to inform them that we had arrived for a reservation. It became apparent that it was because the hostess was also helping act as a server. The kind hostess was notably tired and even noted they had been working for over 8 hrs that day. Once we got to the lounge. The space is small and made smaller by the cheap and cluttered decor. The space is evidently a repurposed storage space just past the bathrooms which other guest would pop their head and loudly remark on. This really disrupted the exclusive and private vibe of a speakeasy. Our table was made of such thin metal it would pop like the top of a Snapple cap. We originally made reservations for the speakeasy as they advertise vinyl nights every Friday and Saturday night from 6:30 -9:30 on their instagram and from 7 pm on open table. We were there on Saturday from 7 -8:30. While there was a vinyl set up the space was use to hold dirty plates and menus rather than music. While being there we ordered a cheese board and Sliders with truffle fries. The truffle fries were tasty but The cheese board is underwhelming and offered only two half slices of bread that was not proportional to the amount of cheese provided. Our waiter, who never introduced themselves, also nearly forgot to note was included on the board. He also forgot to mention that there would extra charge for asking for more bread. Very disappointing first experience

We came at a quieter time and enjoyed the privacy. The service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We had Trio of Dips, which were delicious! The tzatziki was to die for. For mains, we had fried chicken sandwich, fried fish sandwich and fish and frites. The rosemary fries were lovely. All the fried portions of the meal were a bit too oily. Overall, we would definitely come back.

We were greeted right away and get seated even though our group is not complete yet. Food was awesome, we loved everything we ordered and service was superb. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Ambiance was great too, we dined inside since it’s a little bit chilly at night. Highly recommend this place for any celebrations/occasions. Love to come back someday 👍

Service, food, ambiance, views…. Beeside Balcony has it all. Apps to try include Trio of Dips and Octopus Ceviche. Enjoy the Fjord Salmon as an entree. Drank and loved the Brady Petite Sirah and the Finca Museum Tempranillo.Oh, and the desserts…. The churros are creamy inside and crunchy outside. Yum!
