Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the Pawn Shop, complete with vintage treasures and curated contemporary pieces. The host greets you in the Jewelry Box and takes you past upholstered walls into the Pearl Lounge and bar. Then you’ll find the Peacock Dining Room and the Locket Private Dining Room separated by a screen wall of antique frames. Each of these rooms are inspired by the delicate yet glamorous details of jewelry.

The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course with unique shareable dishes and twists on classic cocktails. Acclaimed chef and co-creator Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

We enjoyed our drink at the bar but the noise level in the dining room was so high. All of the employees were awesome. The food was good but expensive since you had to order quite a few things to be full. I think I’d go back for a drink if it wasn’t too busy in the bar.

From the hostess to the manager, customer service was as amazing as the food. Our server Karen gave us great detail about the new menu items and Chef Ellie was kind enough to say hi and give us an amazing pasta dish.

Beauty & Essex is a wonderful addition to Mohegan Sun. Love the concept of small sharable plates. We ordered the crab cake corn dogs and the tomato soup dumplings. Both were outstanding. The showstopper of course is the Beauty Wheel with an assortment of small bite desserts. Service was wonderful. Ally was our server and she was both attentive and friendly which made it a relaxed dinner. We dined early so lights were dim but not dark and the music level was fine.

We were so excited to eat at Beauty and Essex for my partners' birthday. Yes, prices are high. But, that was okay... well somewhat okay. $32 for 4 pieces of charred bread with a small piece of prime rib? on the side and some great au jou---- but, it was a bite-sized piece. The clams, and garganelli, and the tomato soup were good, and my friend's woodsman? bourban drink was good and the dessert was good. The restaurant was not crowded. The issue was how we felt rushed. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and wanted some time to open a card/gift, talk, etc. Then the food, ( all of it) came out. I thought they would brings the apps, but we got the apps and main together. Then, after a short period time, we were asked if we were done. We said no and talk the server that we were still eating. She apologized. Then about 2 mintues later another person came and wanted to take the plates??? We said we were still eating. The meal/drinks etc. came to $350 for 4 persons. Maybe it will take them so time to get ready and I hope so.

Drinks and dinner at the bar area. Fantastic services tasty drinks and delicious food. I was very happy to see that the Mohegan Sun has a Beauty & Essex. Really liked this place when I visited Las Vegas last year.

Great seafood tower brought us here and other tapas style items were good too. Particularly enjoyed the red snapper tacos. Great ambience and style too.

The food was delicious, everything we ate was too notch. Great appetizer, entrees, and desert. What we didn't like was the resteraunt was very dark we seen numerous other guest using phone flashlights to view the menu and the music was loud. The food was worth it though!

My experience could have easily been a 10/10 experience but there were a few inconveniences. Firstly, the hosts are very friendly. I appreciate being greeted with a beautiful smile! I was seated promptly at my reservation time which I appreciated as well. When I made the reservation 2 weeks prior, I requested a booth for seating. I understand that it may not always be possible to get what I prefer, however, when she walked me to the table, I asked the hostess about the booth I requested and she let me know they were only for bigger parties. I was understanding of the situation but quickly realized something wasn’t accurate. Just a few tables away there were 2 vacant booths. 5 minutes after being told booths were only for parties larger than 2, two parties of 2 people were seated at the vacant booths.. that I requested two weeks prior. Again, I was understanding and kind about it, but it felt as if I was lied to for whatever reason which I’m still not happy about. I had two servers, and they were very professional and attentive. My table was cleared often which I appreciate, and they always asked “do you have anything you need?” Which I really appreciated. Also, my partner and I were escorted to the restroom, very attentive to detail there! :) The drinks were very well made. Our appetizers came out within 5 minutes of ordering and although they were pretty good, they were cold. I did not tell the server because I didn’t want to be a bother to her. But I can tell the appetizers were premade and probably sitting in the kitchen until an order was placed which I don’t think I expect from a fine dining establishment and makes me feel as if the restaurant is just not worth it. We also ordered lamb chops which I found to also taste underwhelming. So I’m pretty disappointed at the entire meal itself. Overall I would rate beauty and Essex at 5/10, only because my servers were outstanding. I truly expected more from a Tao Group restaurant!
