   Absolutely wonderful late lunch with impeccable service! Food was outstanding - every delectable bite. Reasonably priced. Coming back for NYE! Easy parking right across the street. Give it a try - we think you’ll love it!

   Bastille is a charming bustling neighborhood spot. On this Saturday night, the noise level was uncomfortable due in part to it being filled to capacity and the tile flooring. The wait staff, when available, was efficient and knowledgeable. However, we had to ask for more water and for condiments. We were not asked whether we’d like dessert. The food was perfectly prepared.

   Bastille is truly a gem. This is our "go-to" restaurant for a fantastic meal and dining experience. Tonight, each of us had the Brasserie Prix Fixe, with the following appetizers: Escargots (snails), Salad de Betteraves (beets) et Citrus, and Beignets des Crevettes (rock shrimp fritters). Two of us orderd the Magret de Canard aux Poivres (duck breast with pears), and one had the Boeuf Bourguignon (beef in wine sauce). We all finished with the Napolean dessert, which is an innovative take on the classic, full of flavors and textures. Everything was truly delicious. The duck, which I had, was flawless. The duck breast itself, cooked perfectly medium rare, was so flavorful, enhanced by a delicious, rich, wine-based sauce and stewed pears. The entree was accompanied by the best wild rice I have ever had - a perfect balance of umami and saltiness, and a nutty crunch to the grains. The broccolini, paired with melting cippolini onions, was flavorful and tender, cooked to perfection. It is not an exaggeration to say I enjoyed every bite of my meal. As always, the service was friendly and attentive, just the right balance. Everyone, from our server to the bus people, to the manager and hostess, provided excellent customer service. The atmosphere in the bistro, where we often prefer to sit, is comfortable and charming, with a lively buzz of activity, but is not too loud. The bistro tables and chairs bring one back to France. I am from NYC, where we have plenty of great restaurants, including French cuisine stars, but I can honestly say that Bastille is my favorite French restaurant on the East Coast. I cannot wait to return. Bon appetit!

   Another visit to our favorite upscale restaurant in Alexandria. Food and Service were excellent as usual. The dish of the month special, Beef Bourguignonne, was perfectly appropriate for a cold night. Highly recommended.

   Bastille is a great experience, whether it’s a special occasion or just a dinner out. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. The kitchen is ready to accommodate food restrictions. The food never disappoints. The three course prix fixe menus are a good value. I highly recommend Bastille.

   We find the food at Bastille to be consistently delicious, and we find the service to be consistently attentive. We especially enjoy eating out on the patio, but we also enjoy the sophisticated yet relaxed ambiance inside. One of our favorite restaurants in Alexandria.
