Lovely meal, food very nice but small portions. Fixed price menu good value for money, some interesting uses of volcanic ash. Would definitely recommend, our server was a lovely lady who looked after us very well.

Went here for dinner. Service was good but a little slow, they were not busy as we got there at the start of dinner service at 5 pm. I ordered the Mixed Greens and Crispy Quinoa Shrimp with Crème Brûlée for dessert. The shrimp was interesting as the quinoa made the texture crunchy. The crème brûlée was delicious. My husband ordered the Prix Fixe 50 with Mixed Greens, Pork Chop with mashed potatoes and green beans and Basque Cheesecake. The potatoes were of a purple variety and were slightly sweet, he did not like them, I did so I ate them. The pork chop was good until he got near the bone and it was not fully cooked, so that was the end of that. We did mention this to the manager, Rodd. The cheesecake was good but it's cheesecake, nothing special. This is a slightly upscale place with prices that match. It would be nicer if the food did the same.

Aloha, Basalt is one of the best restaurants in Waikiki. We really should come more often. You can judge a restaurant by its rice (for real) and their rice is cooked perfectly “local Japanese style” which is the best. With a $50 pre-fixe such a great value. Staff and chef are amazing! The pork chop was cooked perfectly with a well- seasoned glaze sauce beautifully presented with purple mashed potatoes and green beans and delicious. Miso butterfish so yummy. And desserts of basque cheesecake and triple chocolate cake, yummy! Rolled out full and happy. Mahalo RW

Basalt is one of my neighborhood gems for happy hour. Their restaurant week menu really captured my interest. I chose the soup the pork chop and the cheesecake. One of the best soups I’ve ever had in my entire life. I wanna go back tomorrow and see if I can order it by itself. It was fantastic and beautifully presented. The main course was a generous amount of, sweet potato mash and I hefty pork chop done to perfection, tender, and flavorful. The best cheesecake was honestly the best of its kind on island. I just had Best cheesecake at upstairs at Pier 38 and Basalt surpasses theirs by a mile the staff at Basalt are all friendly, competent, and genuinely want to have your experience. Be a good one. Don’t miss this special restaurant week menu with them.
