The menu contains a variety of unfamiliar dishes and doesn’t have some items I usually expect in Greek cuisine. The waitress explained the difference, saying that Bar Vlaha features less-common dishes more typical of Northern Greece. We had roast leg of lamb, some interesting mezze choices, potatoes and greens. We loved all of that. Our only disappointment was the baklava, which was soggy. The portion sizes were so generous, however, that we really shouldn’t have ordered dessert anyway. I’d happily go back.

We were truly looking forward to this, and the experience disappointed us. For appetizers, we had the mixed dip with taramousalata, Salata, Taziki, and one other. The portions were remarkably small for the $24 tab. They tasted OK, not great, but certainly better than average. The sourdough bread was indeed excellent but at $12 a loaf to take one home, this seemed excessive. We also had a spanakopita tart. This suffered from one fault that almost every dish had;.There was was way way too much salt. Otherwise the spanakopita was actually quite good. Given our experience with the three items we ordered we electedsimply to have one main course. the restaurant was pushing the lamb chops hard for $56. This was for four lamb chops that appeared to be grilled without any sides or condiments. Instead we chose the shoulder on pasta. This was inedible because of the salt and also due to a lack of pasta. We took the majority of the dish home, and we tossed out the next day. We did not have dessert. The mixed drink we had was truly excellent. I do not remember the name, but it is the one with some stalks of wheat sticking out of the ice, and served in ice cream soda metal cup. The taste of Greece, which involved three liquors: one mystique and one Oso and one other did not write the name. It was delicious, but the pours were about a half an ounce each. Perhaps we will give Bar Vlaha another chance. We have read so many good things. Perhaps it was a sous chef that did not know how the season food but I doubt this. Try it out for yourself

Wr ordered a variety of plates and have to say the food was average at best. Maybe the kitchen was rushed (we ordered at 3 PM and the closing was catching at 3:15 PM). We were very disappointed.
