    Service is excellent. Food is not. Seating is crammed together so that you must get up from your seat and walk sideways from the table to go to the bathroom. Sushi pieces are tiny and rice fell away from fish when dipping in soy sauce. Miso cod was very fishy tasting. Ate only half. When the server took away the dish and saw half the fish left he never asked how it was or tasted. Beef fried rice had no flavor. The only questions were are you all set and would you like anything else. However service is VERY attentive, refilling tea and water quickly, and they’re very polite. Dinner was not worth the price. And we were in NYC for one night as a special occasion. If the manager or anyone else had asked how our meal was I would have honestly answered instead of giving them a poor review.

    My husband and I had our five year anniversary dinner at Bar Masa last night and could not have been happier with our experience! We are visiting NYC and have always wanted to eat at Bar Masa when visiting, but this was our first time…part of me is disappointed that we didn’t do it sooner, but I can confidently say that it was worth the wait. We both agree that the sushi was better than the sushi we’ve had in Japan and were musing at the fact that we can have such high quality sushi so relatively close to home. The beef skewers were to die for - so good that we placed a second order after finishing the first. The staff were wonderful - attentive and kind. Perfect restaurant for a special occasion or just a superb meal.
