   I was really looking forward to experiencing Bar Maaya for their Sax Saturdays and Galentine’s Weekend event, but unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt off. Despite their heavy promotion of a fun, vibrant Galentine’s celebration, my friend and I—the only friend pair in the entire venue—were seated in a dimly lit back room, completely isolated from the main dining area. Meanwhile, the main seating area was filled with couples, and despite two empty tables near the entrance, we were told we could only sit at the bar if we wanted to move. To note, those same tables remained empty throughout our entire visit! When we asked about Sax Saturdays, the waitress was unnecessarily rude and passive-aggressive. We could hear music but couldn’t tell if it was live since we were seated so far in the back. Her response? A sarcastic “Yeah, this is it. That’s what you’re hearing, the sax.” When I clarified that I was asking because we couldn’t see anything, she simply said, “It’s happening in the other room.” No offer to move us, no attempt to accommodate us—just a dismissive attitude. We eventually moved ourselves to the bar, which was an uncomfortable experience in itself. The bar stools are right by the entrance, and we were hit with a constant cold breeze the entire time. As for the actual event? The “live music” was just two guys at the front with inconsistent sound quality—at times, the speakers randomly got louder or quieter. The Galentine’s decor they hyped up? Just a few cheap cut-out hearts stuck to the wall. The drinks were overpriced for what little “theatrical” effect they had, and the food was nothing special—small, unimpressive appetizers. The only redeeming factor was the bar staff, who were actually friendly and professional. For a place that brands itself as an immersive experience with top-tier ambiance, this was anything but. Overhyped, poorly managed, and unwelcoming—definitely not worth the visit!

   Galentine’s Date Review Had the most amazing Galentine’s date with friend 🤍🤍🤍The dessert was absolutely appetizing—every bite was pure indulgence. And the cocktails? Simply superb! Each sip was perfectly crafted, adding just the right touch of sweetness to our celebration.

   Not sure what the vibe at this place was because from the photos it looks cozy and trendy but when we got there, it was very cold because the door was right there, the lighting was super bright in the dining area and the place felt bare (like they just opened). There was a lot of video and photos being taken there with bright lights and girls posing which imo was tacky given the vibe the restaurant was trying to emanate. The service was great and the food was decent, but their special pork belly lettuce wraps were very yummy! Just an fyi- there’s a club right downstairs so the club music is blasting throughout the night but they did have live music in the dining area which was nice. Not sure if I’d go here again… seems like it’s just trying to be another Toronto restaurant with high prices.

   Beautiful ambiance. Definitely a cocktail bar with some lovely presentations and sophisticated feel. The live music was a great touch for a Saturday night. We did notice that the cocktails ordered off the happy hour menu were much smaller than the rest and not necessarily worth the cost. Food was definitely not worth ordering here. The Chicken tacos were very overcooked. Returned and the replacements were equally overcooked. Crab cakes and mushroom tacos lacked any flavour. Out of the six in our group, we wanted to try a mix of foods, the Oysters and flat bread were fine, but think pizza rather than traditional flatbread.

   I was celebrating my birthday and went for a late night drink with friends. Bar Maaya went above and beyond! They gave a free dessert which was delicious and presented in such a esthetically beautiful way and I was serenaded by a sax player. Would highly recommend! Thank you Bar Maaya!

   We didn’t order food (wouldn’t let me leave it blank) but this bar is completely different from the instagram, wine was cheap in cheap glasses, the bar ambiance and vibe were off, the only photos are shown of one bar wall which is cool but the rest of the place still looks similar to the old cheap bar that was there before

    Food was ok at best but a little over valued. Hardly any crowd on Sunday night but music was great.
