Beautiful plating, great service and very ambitious! I would have liked my food a bit warmer and the beef tartare without nuts but thats all personal preferences. Definitely an Ottawa gem for dining.

Bar Lupulus is unequivocally one of the best restaurants in Ottawa. There's no pretense yet the dishes, and drinks, are always imaginative and delicious - in line with high-end restaurants. The waitstaff are personable and attentive - and that there's essentially no turnover is an indication of good management and teamwork. The atmosphere has an energetic, community vibe and the recent addition of sound-deadening measures has made conversation possible at a relatively normal level. My wife and I have lived in 5 countries and positively experienced all types of restaurants, from great "greasy spoons" to one awarded a Michelin 3-star, and Bar Lupulus ranks amongst the best of them.

The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The noise level made conversation difficult so keep that in mind if you’re intending to have intimate conversations.

Food was great. We had the lamb, bucatini and white fish, plus some appetizers. Waiter was fantastic and knowledgable. A little loud so sometimes difficult to talk.

A fun evening with some friends. I cannot say enough about our wait staff. She was funny and knowledgeable about the food and especially the wine.

Our third visit was not nearly as good as our first or second. Sadly we were a bit disappointed, especially as we hosted friends who had not been to Bar Lupulus before. Service was good to start but once the food was served we did not receive much attention save for the water refills (which were very appreciated!!!) Unfortunately underwhelming.
