Bak Restaurant is modern dining experience in Houthaven. It's located in an old warehouse in the port area and has a fantastic view of the sea. Guests can enjoy the chic style of the restaurant with its black and white color scheme, charred wood bar area and simple furniture arrangement. Everything about Bak is simple and minimalist. It also has a commitment to local and sustainable food sources. Guests can enjoy dinner Wednesday through Sunday and lunch over the weekend.

There is a set menu at BAK, that changes from day to day depending on what's fresh and available. Lunches are served in three to six or seven courses, and dinners are offered in six or seven courses with optional drink service to accompany the meal. Guests with dietary needs may inform the staff beforehand to have suitable dishes brought for each course.

Bak was an amazing find in the up and coming docks' neighborhood of Amsterdam (a 15-minute walk from the old town). The food was amazing--particularly great for anyone who loves fish and vegetables (although it does a great job with meat as well). It is an all prix-fixe menu, as the chef prepares a new menu each day--not cheap, but you definitely get your money's worth in terms of creative, delicious food. The servers accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences (although they prefer to find out ahead of the visit). The restaurant's decor is simple--keeping the older building's lines and interior in mind; windows look out onto an amazing view of the docks and harbor of Amsterdam. A huge window in the entry of the restaurant gives an even better view. Diners often got up between courses to look out of the large window. The atmosphere is fun--young, lively European (including Dutch) foodies seem to prefer this place. All in all, this was a high point of our visit to Amsterdam.

Fantastic restaurant, seven course taster menu was €50 and absolutely exquisite, we paired ours with the wine which I think was €27 and definitely worth it. Our table looked out onto the water, the staff were very friendly and carefully explained each food and wine course they brought out. Definitely worth saving as a fantastic last meal in this wonderful city - will definitely be going BAK again!

Beautiful views if you're lucky enough to get a table by the window. Lovely venue and creative, tasty menu of local ingredients. Would definitely come back! Excellent for a group and even better for a pair.
