   I'm not sure why they advertised this as an 80s prom - and then didn't have a DJ playing a mix of retro 70s/80s/90s music. The band was decent but they didn't play songs along with the theme - so it was confusing. The food was "okay" - maybe if we had ordered off the menu we would have found something we both liked better. The salmon was good but the couscous and tomatoes were oily. The prime rib was very fatty. The dessert was good though.

   This review is specific to the NYE event that BackYard was hosting- an 80's Prom Night Themed party. We had a party of 6 with prepaid reservations starting at 8pm. Upon arriving, the place was VERY loud with sports on the TV's, and no evidence of any NYE Party decor. or festivities We were seated and the table had a few props- 2025 glasses, headwear and blowers. The TV's were so loud that it was difficult to have conversations. Nikki, our server did a wonderful job in keeping drinks flowing. When the food was served, the staff basically passed it down the table and not in a positive way- it felt like it was too much work for meals to be placed in front of the person who ordered it. The food itself was delish- both the braised short ribs and salmon were cooked well. The TV's continued to be quite loud. A band started playing close to 9:30pm. None of the music was 80's themed. There were many people that were present who dressed for the party and likely looking forward to a fun themed night. At 9:55- it was noted that none of the TV's had anything relating to NYE on them- Nikki tried to get the TV's playing an East coast celebration, but it wasn't timely. By 10:45 we had enough, very disappointed by the evening, no-one up dancing (the music was not very engaging for that) and decided to go back to our house to celebrate with our small group. We were all disappointed and would not go back the BackYard any time soon.

   Wait staff was excellent and that is where our positive remarks end. The food was fair at best. The burgers were small leaving us hungry. The frozen margarita as mixed wasn’t worth finishing. The backyard style chairs were not comfortable and made eating at the table difficult.

   Too loud and all the dogs made it feel like you were eating at a dog shelter. Food was fine but hard to enjoy.

   First time dining. The noise from music and tv made conversation impossible. Do not go here if you want a quiet dinner. We enjoyed salmon, street tacos and lettuce wraps.

    It was my first time at Backyard and I loved it. The atmosphere was so energetic. I thoroughly enjoyed the tasty bar food and drinks at very reasonable happy hour prices. Our server was exceptional and provided great service. I especially loved the games within the establishment that guests could play while eating and drinking. The backyard-style decor was great and added to my overall satisfaction of this neighborhood gem.
