Discovering the experience of dining in a place such as Cannes or Nice was never easier than now with the opening of the French Bistro and Raw Bar, Avenue. The only difference between dining at Avenue and dining along the Côte d'Azur, is that your gaze lands on waves on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Avenue is located along our side of the pond, on our own eastern shores in Long Branch, New Jersey. This gleaming new restaurant is designed by the internationally renowned architect David Collins, and the collaboration is nothing short of amazing.

    I have dined at The Avenue many times, however, this time was terrible. we had a 1 pm reservation and were were seated a few minutes after..the person on the desk was not pleasant and seemed annoyed with being a host. Then we sat an order an appetizer and drinks which came to our table in a timely manner and our entry orders were placed with a lovely waitress. Appetizer and drinks arrived and after we were finished, we waited another 1 hr and 20 minutes for our entries. We were only a party of 5. Asked for manager, never showed and our waitress apologized numerous times still no food. People that came in after us were served way before us. Not sure as of this writing if I would recommend or go back to the restaurant.

    We had a reservation for 7:00 PM, but we were not seated until 8:00 PM, as we waited outside for a corner table in the back. The service was very poor and slow. The food service was also lacking and arrived late. The food itself was just okay—not great. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant was a concern. The tables were dirty, and when we asked for napkins, we were told they had run out and hadn’t been washed. The table lacked plates and cutlery. Overall, everything was just disappointing.

    Not sure if they were under staffed but something was not right. Took an hour to get bread, 2/12 hours until food came out. One meal was not edible. Maybe an off night for them. Felt badly for waitress who seemed not to have any control over the situation.

    Waited to get seated over 40 minutes, service unsatisfactory, food is good. Because of very slow service it took over 3 hours for a regular dinner.

    We have dined here several times before and everything was always excellent. Unfortunately, today was the exception. The host was extremely rude. He could not find our reservation and pretty much accused me of lying about having one. I showed him my confirmation and he was still rude saying that he couldn’t seat us because we were a few minutes early. It took almost an hour to get our appetizers. After we placed the order we pretty much never saw the waiter again. My husband had to get me a drink at the bar to have with my meal. The customers at the adjoining tables all had the same complaint about the wait for food and the host. They clearly did not have the staff to accommodate the number of customers and after waiting almost an hour for appetizers they initially brought us the wrong one. I did enjoy the duck entree but the service was just abysmal.

    Didn't get a chance to taste the food. Waited for an hour after ordering. No food, waiter didn't come up once to check on us or update on timing. Told the manager to cancel the order, he didn't bother asking why or apologizing.

    I visited here for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. Their Pre-Fix menu was very satisfying. The ambience here is always awesome with the roaring fireplace in the main room adding to the atmosphere. Tyler was our server and was most professional and friendly. I highly recommend Avenue at any time! The views of the sea are also spectacular!

    They need more wait staff. The restaurant was not busy, but they are short staffed, so we had a very long wait to get our bill.

    Server and management staff were not attentive. Took awhile for drink and food orders. Drinks were not replenished. Entrees brought out without clearing app plates. My decaf coffee brought out with no spoon or condiments, was not decaf in fact. We had to continually ask for things. Food was average, not terrible. Bathrooms were in need of a deep cleaning and had a lack of toilet paper. Will not go back. Theres probably a reason i was able to get a table on a Saturday night for 4 @ 6:30, booking it at 4pm on that same Saturday.
