   The overall dining experience was ok, but for the price of the dinner I was expecting more. The service was sub-par. The waitress was not attentive, did not check on us .We were there to celebrate our anniversary.. The waitress as ask us in the beginning if we were celebrating anything, we told her. Not sure if she remembered, after dinner she didn't acknowledge us. Not impressed at all. Over priced drinks , and meals. The atmosphere was nice and the appearance is nice. I would not dine there again

   The ambience was really nice . Our server was really friendly and accommodating. However, we were somewhat disappointed with our order. My husband ordered a well done steak that came out clearly not well done . The server was really good about it and had the kitchen cook him another steak. Second time it was perfect . I ordered Shrimp Scampi which was good but cold . The server apologized and said the kitchen staff is new . I would go back a second time to see if the new kitchen staff has had time to adjust .

   Executive Chef Darryl Harmon's menu is divine. Four of us dined at Avana on Saturday, April 12 and every dish was served with precise timing, excellent preparation, and attentive service. Our server, Chrissy, knew the menu well and provided wonderful recommendations for drinks, appetizers, and entrees as follows: -Caesar salad *prepared tableside with equal parts skill and entertainment by Mr. Stackhouse -Crispy cauliflower bites with a savory buffalo zing -An amazing thin crust pizza with oxtails, greens and other ingredients one would never imagine on a pizza. Great app with six generous slices. A must -have that cannot be found anywhere else! -Deviled eggs topped with crispy catfish -one could not find a creamier egg which was enhanced by the catfish bite on top! For the entrees, I cannot do them justice in describing the flavors and Chef Harmon's expert preparation. All were delicious and I would not hesitate to suggest trying each. Even with dividing three entrees among four ladies, we still had food left. -Watermelon Glazed Chilean Sea Bass -King Salmon -Lazy Lobster Mac & Cheese *Caution -this is a huge portion that should be shared with three of four people! Every selection was perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection, and served promptly. We did not have room for dessert. If you want to experience Southern cooking with an elevated, creative flair, this is the dining experience for you!

   It is our first visit, but it certainly will not be our last. The food, service, and overall experience were outstanding. There were so many options we wanted to try that we must return to continue exploring the menu options. However, we enjoyed what we did order without exception. The quality and quantity were enjoyable.

   This place was recommended by Sharonda Thomas 6abc. So I decided to take my husband there to celebrate his birthday. The website looks very nice. When we arrived it was not what we expected. Seating was tight. While the presentation of our entrées were pleasing and the service was good. The menu was limited and food was unremarkable.

   My unfortunate experience at Avana began the day prior to my reservations when I was asked if I had wanted to adjust my reservation. I could not. I called, no one ever answered the phone. I had ask multiple times for additional table setting, utensils for the already placed setting and additional setting for my guest which had not arrived but was nearby. I also asked for a serving of salad for my guest that had been overlooked. Moreover, once soup was ordered by my guest the waitress Onjinay did not mention a serving of bread came atop the soup. She placed an order for additional bread. I then asked that the additional bread be removed from the order. My guest agreed the food was highly priced. In addition, our waitress politely implied we had over stayed our welcome. The gratuity was automatically included in our grand total. There should have been an option of 10% , 15% , or 20 % we could have chosen to apply.

   The service was great and the food came out quickly. Those deviled eggs with cat fish nuggets are something special, order them. The food was top notch! Worth the money for sure.
