Executive chef: Chef Johnny Curiel

From the OpenTable editors: Chef Johnny Curiel grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, and started washing dishes in his dad’s restaurant at age 14. Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

Join us in our intimate dining room of only 28 seats. We invite guests to relax in a space accented by reclaimed wood, — sourced from the oldest building in Denver — clay-inspired wall treatment, an abundance of plants that evoke the feeling of Mexico City, and artisan finds from Johnny’s home state of Guadalajara.

Multiple dates available
In lieu of a traditional bar, 8 seats line a fully immersive Chefs’ Counter where guests can connect with the kitchen and watch the team at work. The full menu is served at the Chefs' Counter.

Shawn and Mike, thank you for making my boyfriend and I’s first experience at Alma Fonda wonderful. Mike was very attentive and very informed about the menu. We were blown away by how much flavor each dish had, portions were most definitely perfect for sharing. We LOVED the halibut and the scallops and couldn’t stop talking about the food after we left. Shawn, thank you for being so kind and remembering that I called ahead to take care of the drinks for my table. Thank you again, you will see us again soon and I have already recommended you guys to a few of my friends!

The food and the experience were amazing. The countertop seats are great to interact with cooks and watch them preparing delicious dishes Just a side note. Adding some vents to the restaurant would help not to have clothes smelling after dinner 😅

The food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful at Alma. My wife and I had an early dinner reservation here in a Saturday. We ordered a bit too much food, but were happy that we got to try more of the amazing dishes. I’m looking forward to returning to try more!
