Located in the heart of downtown State College, our newly restored space offers an honest, no-fuss menu featuring modern American cooking. The bar program features classics-inspired craft cocktails and a thoughtfully curated biodynamic wine list including plentiful wines by the glass.

Located on the second floor of Hotel State College, an iconic corner of hospitality in the community, the Grill has offered the community and alumni one of the grandest views of town and Penn State through floor-to-ceiling windows for more than 40 years. Thoughtfully restored and reimagined by new owners, Chef Karen Nicolas and the team set out to re-establish the Allen Street Grill as the epicenter of the downtown dining scene with a focus on local, quality ingredients and great hospitality.

My carrot soup and farro risotto were both fantastic. My husband’s linguini was equally delicious. After moving to State College two years ago, and visiting every summer for over 20 years, this was our first visit to the Allen Street Grill. It won’t be our last!

We have been to the Allen Street Grill a few times before and absolutely loved it. We will not be going back. We had an 8 pm reservation but our table was not ready until 8:30pm. We did not care too much except everyone else in our section of the restaurant finished and left while we were just receiving our entrees. We did not care too much about that either, except the staff then rearranged the furniture and cleaned all the tables around us, including spraying them with cleaner, while we were still eating. Then what looked like the staff supervisor sat at a table and started going through all the receipts for the night. We finished our mains (which were very salty) and left. We would have had a dessert and a glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday, but we felt we were an annoyance and they wanted us gone. It is very sad to see that nobody really cared about us and our experience, when this used to be one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in the US. Food was OK - just a shame that my expectations were so high and the reality so disappointing.

We are frequent diners but first time happy hour attendees in the adjacent bar and it did not disappoint! A speak-easy type feel with comfy chairs and dim lighting. The drink menu is phenomenal and on par with the cool vibe ( think Vine Room on 5th in Naples). For dinner, one of us stuck with the tried and true delish Bolognese pasta. I went out of my comfort zone and had the duck. The presentation was superb and the duck itself was yummy with the frois gros sauce. But after my Carrot Soup appetizer nothing could compare. Literally this soup is my favorite item on the current menu. The wait staff have become like friends as they are loyal and rather learned of ASG. As always Becky, makes everyone feel special when she greets you. Loving the vibe of a one stop evening upstairs at ASG!

Great service, cool vibe. Risotto dinner and 1/2 chicken were excellent. Lounge area is trendy with interesting cocktails. Would definitely go again.
