Unfortunately most of our food was very cold and not well prepared. It was a holiday, so that is probably related.

We were there for Thanksgiving. Seated promptly at our reservation time (we got there 10 mins early and stood around without any invitation to sit at the bar and have a drink) Server attentive and frankly feeling lost with the weird pace of the food. We waited 20+ minutes for our cheese board appetizer which I think was hastily put together after we complained. I can't imagine that their usual cheeseboard contains just the 4 ounces of cheese we got. Plus, four people at the table but three pieces of toasted bread? We felt like the bread was put there to fill the board. Then, we felt like they held the entrees so we could eat the cheeseboard (even though once it was taking so long we said just bring everything out when ready) so two of them were cold. My husband, who NEVER complains in restaurants said something about his meal being cold so they DID COMP IT which we appreciated, but still... the place was busy, but not so crazy that we expected slow food. Three out of the four of us are former servers, so we were empathetic, but still...no need. Food tasty though.

The food was decent but the service was great. We got there early so sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender remembered us from a previous visit. When we got to our table our waitress was the perfect balance of giving us space and being attentive.

This review is for a Thanksgiving meal. The turkey was from a processed turkey roll rather than carved from a roasted turkey. The stuffing was good. The rest was average. The service by our waitress, Cici, was outstanding. She was cheerful and a pleasure to have as our server.

This was my 1st visit to Alcove. I wanted a more upscale dinner experience just prior to the Celtics game that evening. Our expectations were more than met. Our 4:45pm reservation perfectly matched the 8:00pm game time. The service was excellent. Assistance with our wine choices was on point. I was worried that our menu choices were a bit slim but we settled on splitting a few appetizers, with knowledgable input from our waitress. All of our selections were tasty and of sufficient quantity. I think the cost of our meal was appropriate. You could easily spend as much inside the TD Bank Garden with far less quality. I would say, Alcove is not the best place to bring young kids. It has total grown folks, upscale, candle lit ambience. But, by the time we left at around 6:30pm, most of the patrons were decked out in Celtics gear. This was just a cool choice for us and it made me think of just coming back to hang out whenever I plan to be in the area.

Main courses were overpriced. Food was bland and everyone’s dish had too many onions. All four of us ate half or less of our meals.

I decided to try Alcove on a Friday afternoon when no Bruins or Celtics games were scheduled. We had a tasty lunch from a limited but excellent menu, attentive service, a little wine and what turned into a 3 1/2 lunch! It’s a great location, nicely designed room (even the music was good). I know this place is popular on game days and nights, but I would highly recommend when TD Garden is not mobbed!
