   So we’ve been going here for years and it was nice to see the updates they’ve made to the place to make it feel a little fancier. The menu looks like it’s been updated to and so we tried the crabcakes which are a regular favor and the fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were good, but really could use some seasoning in the batter, the crabcakes were a bit of a disappointment. They were overcooked and came out very dark brown I also got a wedge salad, which is normally a favorite, but it was just drowning in dressing and didn’t seem to have very much blue cheese or lettuce. The steaks were both good, mine was a little underdone, more rare than medium rare but I feel that more because it was a thicker cut than normal more than anything else and I’d rather have it less done than more so. Our waiter was pretty good for the most part, he had a number of challenging tables, including a family where the mother was screaming at the kids, so didn’t worry too much about things taking longer. The app does not allow for half stars. This is probably 3 1/2 or a low four compared to a three. Still definitely gonna be coming back just not the best experience this time around.

   Perfect date night. Food was superb - ribeyes with gorgonzola butter and brussel sprouts. Service was quick, waiter was quiet but nice. Definitely worth it!

   John, our waiter, absolutely made the night the best! He is absolutely wonderful and super friendly. We had a lovely evening with eight of us attending. The food was incredible, per usual. The ambience is always fun. And the drinks were awesome.

   ALC is "Old Austin", and the food , service and ambiance are the same as always -- Outstanding!!

   The restaurant was very loud and the service was mediocre. The steaks were ok but definitely not worth the price. The cocktails were good. I’d go again for the cocktails and their bar.

   The heterosexual couple beside us was treated very differently than we were even though we were both celebrating our anniversaries. I would not frequent if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Their anniversary was acknowledged while ours went unnoticed even though it noted in the special occasion on this app. When asked while leaving the maître d' did confirmed that it was visible on the reservation and did not know why it was not at least mentioned. Other requests in the comments like a bottle of champagne on table upon arrival was not honored as well. We were sat in the back near a party room of extremely loud patrons and had to ask the door be shut several times. We did make friends with the hetero couple and they agreed that the noise and our treatment didn’t make for a romantic anniversary dinner.

    Made a reservation for my son and his girlfriend to celebrate their 1st anniversary and specifically requested a table in the main dining room. Instead, they were stuck in a small room with one other table of a loud and rowdy group of all males. Their server forgot about them 20-30 minutes after their last entree. I know this because my son called me when they were done and 25 minutes, I urged him to get up to go find the guy, so they could pay the bill, as it was a school night. I had wanted them to have a special evening and it was horrible. It was embarrassing for me, as my husband and I frequent ALC and I sent them there, with a specific table request and specifically stating it was their anniversary, trusting they would be treated special. Very disappointed.
