The fish and shrimp tacos were fantastic, but the beans and rice were AMAZING, and this is one of my litmus tests—are the basics that usually fly under the radar paid attention to? Resounding yes. The cocktails were divine and the churros with ice cream to die for. Service was very friendly and prompt. A great evening all round.

The food is delicious especially the ceviche and the empanadas. The service was excellent and the waiter was very accommodating for 9 people. The room we were in was too noisy. Lots of big parties.

The food was good and reasonably priced. I had an old fashioned drink. It was good, but I’ve had stronger. The service was great. It was a bit loud, mainly from everyone talking so loud over the music. I’d definitely go back though. It’s a cool place. They were festive with the Halloween decor.

The food was good. The service was sub-par. We kept looking for our waiter who apparently had to spend a lot of time behind the bar making drinks in addition to waiting on tables. I felt for him.

Visiting Oakland... head for Agave Uptown if you want to experience a little Oaxacan food and drink. I always order too much because it is all so good, and nothing like it is available to me at home in New England.

There are many wonderful choices to eat at Agave. My friend who doesn’t like Mexican food had the ribeye and the chef even changed the veggies to suit her. The waiter was very accommodating and split the salad that my husband and I were sharing. We plan to return since there so many delicious choices. A very short walk to the Oakland Symphony and that is also in its favor.

Still one of, if not the best Mexican restaurant in Oakland. Having dinner ahead of Lila Downs' concert at the Paramount was the best choice, combining great food with an energetic ambiance of people getting ready for the show. Their mole is a classic, and their cocktails are amazing.
