Enjoy your lovely Afternoon Tea in Inverness with the best view overlooking Inverness Castle and the River Ness in the elegant lounge or sophisticated Brasserie! Book in advance to treat yourself and your friends to some great conversation and a chance to catch up over Afternoon Tea at the Inverness Palace. The tradition started in early 1800’s with the Duchess of Bedford having that “sinking feeling” in the afternoon as it was normal for only 2 meals a day. The Duchess started the tradition of a pot of tea and a light bites which she later went on to invite friends too attend at Woburn Abbey. The concept of “afternoon tea” took off an became part of high society!

Lovely afternoon tea. Good variety and plenty to fill you up. Great to have a gluten-free option too. Friendly service too.

We were taken to a table where my husband was on a couch and I on a dinning chair, so not even at the same height, we ordered afternoon tea and was very disappointed with what we received, sausage roll looked like it came from Tesco and stone cold, two finger sandwiches each and hardly anything in them, cakes were nice looking but had been frozen, so chewy. Scone was straight from fridge and not offered to make warm. Had to ask for more coffee and a pot of boiling water as the coffee was look warm. Charged £47.90 for something I could have made for £7.00 totally disgusted 😡. Do yourself a favour and don’t book.

Fantastic location with splendid views over the river through large windows and beautifully decorated interior for the afternoon tea. We were lucky enough to come at Christmas time to see lovely Christmas decoration and sit next to the window overlooking the river & the castle. However taste and service were low quality. The coffee was not drinkable, sweet treats were quite big to be enjoyed, they didn't taste fresh, scones were cold, sandwiches were too basic. Presentation was ok but we don't know what we ate as we never received any card menu. The service was rather slow and sadly not knowledgeable. The only thing that helped us enjoy the occasion was the company and beautiful ambiance. Please improve the taste and service as this place is beautiful.

Service was very slow. Had to constantly ask for things. Quality of food was awful. One sandwich had half a slice of cucumber only in it. Had made hotel aware of allergies before arrival and was still given a tray of cakes full of nuts despite them telling me they had taken care of my allergies….

Absolutely loved it. Great value and the staff were so lovely. As a birthday treat and then we went for a spa massage after. All round great experience!

Beautiful fresh afternoon tea. Lots of food. I have a good appetite, and struggled to finish the scone with cream and jam. Absolutely lovely staff.

Beautiful spot overlooking River Ness. The sandwiches and sweets were very good. You don’t have a choice of teas and get whatever they’re serving which was a little disappointing. Overall, it’s a really nice afternoon tea.

Unfortunately due to an error on the part of the hotel they did not realise that it was an intoxicating afternoon tea and also that I was lactose intolerant along with not being able to have coconut or kiwi. These matters were mentioned in the booking which I made almost 2 weeks beforehand. The booking said I should expect a phone call from the hotel before we went but because this didn't happen I took it that it was okay when it actually wasn't. However manager Emily went above and beyond to make sure I had something I could eat. Emily is a great credit to the hotel. Because this was their error we were offered a 2nd pitcher of cocktail or teas and coffees at no extra cost. They also gave us 10% off the bill which was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our afternoon tea after the hiccup and sat in a window table overlooking the river and Inverness Castle.
