Poor service. We were not asked which option of afternoon tea, although there was 3 choices on the menu. We had to ask what teas were available after being given the choice of tea or coffee. We were not asked if we had any dietary requirements. Food we received was good but we were intending to choice different options. It was a treat for my Mother's birthday and we left feeling dissappointed.

On making our booking I specifically requested no sauces or dressings on one persons high tea. Our diestry requirements On arrival again I said to the waitress no sauces or dressings, the waitress (Who was lovely) said that was fine and took our drinks order. She came back with the drinks and food. The sandwiches had sauces on them!! The waitress did apologise and came back with some plain sandwiches....That was the last we saw of anybody for the next 2 hours! Nobody came to see if everything was ok or did we need any more drinks - nothing! We hadn't managed to eat everything so wanted to catch someone to ask if we could take what was left home. We ended up taking our cake stand with us to find someone and to pay. For such a grand place I did expect a little more, however the food was lovely!

The building and grounds are lovely. The afternoon tea was ok - food was quite nice although clearly it had all been prepared earlier and refrigerated; the food came out very promptly and the sandwiches were really cold. The scones were not great - overbaked, different sizes and dry. Sponge cake was nice as were the lemon posset thingies. Service was friendly but there was no-one to greet us when we arrived and we were left alone for long periods of time until someone came to cover for the waitress who apparently had left to deal with "a water emergency". Having said all that, the price is not extravagant so overall value for money was ok.

Lacking in atmosphere and service the hotel was extremely quiet, no music playing and staff who appeared to bring tea but upon being questioned about sandwich choice said they were already made and fresh ones without dressings ie mustard would have to be made. Felt like we were putting them out to comply with request. Another offer of tea was made but no conversation or pleasantries. Nice touch was the edible birthday plaque presented to my friend. Upon leaving the two other tables were not thanked or spoken to as the server had disappeared. Upon finding someone (we had to go to reception) asking if we could order a drink from the bar (which had shutters down) we were informed they had run out of Prosecco which was in the advertised drink of the month so we had a different choice Not the greatest experience

Lovely sweet things. Fabulous surroundings. Sandwiches were okay and staff disappeared, only asking for about a top up of tea once. But the surroundings were superb and the cakes delicious.

Lovely location, attentive service and beautiful scones and cakes. My only criticism was that the sandwiches were a bit basic - the fillings weren’t very exciting, and they used ordinary shop sliced bread. Would have been nice to have fresh bread and more fancy fillings. Would still go back though.

Wonderful, we were the only ones in that day so service was very attentive but not overly. The staff had a good balance with this and were quite lovely. The food was great and most certainly plentiful, anyone moaning that there isn’t enough must have large appetites lol Lovely setting, would definitely recommend for afternoon tea! x

The setting was perfect with beautiful views. The service was prompt on arrival however the waiting staff were not always around for tea top ups though were pleasant and quick at refilling when available. Would definitely return and recommend.

Lovely afternoon tea, lots of choice. Too much to eat but boxes provided to take home spare cakes. Service fantastic. One of the party had a dairy intolerance and the staff sorted out cakes and sandwiches straight away. A lovely setting.
